Jamaica women’s bobsleigh debut at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics has been thrown into turmoil after their driving coach quit.

German Sandra Kiriasis, who was Olympic bobsleigh champion in 2006, had been asked to change her role at the Games which would have meant no access to the athletes.

She refused to move into a new role as a track performance analyst and has now left the federation.

Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian, external and Carrie Russell are to set to become the first Jamaican women to compete in the sport – 30 years after the men made history in Calgary in 1988.

But their participation is now in doubt as their equipment, including the sled, belongs to Kiriasis.

“We thank her for her invaluable contribution to JBSF and contributing to the success of Jamaica’s first female bobsled Olympic appearance.”

The team are due to start official training on Saturday.

Yes, you can learn to luge in Britain.Chill Factor-e in Manchester , externalnow offers a dedicated luge facility. It's only 60m long and far removed from the Olympic event, but it will offer you a taste.

Beyond that, anyone keen to pursue luge in the UK will have to be prepared to travel abroad to improve. Britain's only Olympic luger of recent times, AJ Rosen, was born and trains in the United States.

Yet the Winter Olympics' men's ice hockey tournament is missing many of its biggest stars because of a row with NHL.

USA take on Slovenia shortly without many of their national icons. How will they get on? Slovenia lost to USA when the two teams faced each other in the group stage in 2014.
