And with that silver - her fourth Olympic medal in total - Cardiff’s Elinor Barker becomes Wales’ most decorated female Olympian.

No Welsh woman has won four Olympic medals in history…until now.

We're deep in the fourth quarter at the women's basketball and USA are cruising into the final.

Mentioned earlier that they had won the past seven Olympic golds.

They're crushing Australia here and will be huge favourites once again for the gold medal against the winners of France and Belgium who play later.

And that's how it stays until half-time at the Parc des Princes.

There are some jeers from the expectant home crowd as the teams head off for the break.

What can France coach Thierry Henry do to turn this around in the second half?

A forlorn chant of "allez les bleus" goes up in the fan park as France continue to trail Spain in the men's football final.

"We'll be back in the second half," says one man, Yaz, with a reassuring note in his voice.

He says he's pinned his hopes on a gold medal after the French team failed to win the European Championship earlier this summer.

Big, big trouble.

What a free-kick from Alex Baena. I mentioned him at the start of the coverage before the game started. Him and Fermin Lopez are the two outstanding talents of this Spanish team.

Baena has easily been one of La Liga's top midfielders with Villarreal over the last two seasons, with so much quality and vision on the ball.

The ball is over the wall, and just by the post. It's just a fantastic free-kick.

That one was difficult to watch. Hats off to them.

Elinor at the end, there was one point I thought 'uh oh they're going to be out of the medals if they're not careful'.

Elinor's final turn was absolutely unbelievable to win that silver.

Fair play to the home fans. After France fell 3-1 down, they got right behind their team, repeatedly chanting 'Allez Les Bleus!'

Initially, they didn't really cause Spain too much more to worry about, but Jean-Philippe Mateta has almost pulled a goal back in first-half stoppage time.

The ball bounces kindly for the Crystal Palace striker inside the box and he sends a powerful header goalwards, yet goalkeeper Arnau Tenas manages to throw up his right arm and make a fantastic reflex save by turning it just wide.

That definitely makes amends for his earlier error.

That courageous last effort managed to move them up to the podium.

They were under threat behind from America and the best form of defence - attack.

That's exactly what they did.

Gold medal for the Italian duo of Chiara Consonni and Vittoria Guazzini on 37 points, but Elinor Barker and Neah Evans get themselves a silver medal, winning the final double-points sprint to end on 31 points.

The Netherlands, on 28 points, get themselves a bronze followed by USA in fourth on 18, France in fifth on 17 and Denmark in sixth on 16.

It's hanging by a thread, the bronze medal at the moment.

Italy take the 11th sprint and the five points sees them stretch their lead. They are on 37, Netherlands 28, GB 21, clinging on to a bronze as it stands.

With two sprints to go and 17 laps remaining it is...Italy 32, Netherlands 28, GB, 21, USA 16, France 11.

Bronze as it stands for Elinor Barker and Neah Evans.

Italy do get the 20 points for lapping the field. That could well be the difference between a medal or not.

Just like the Dutch did, Italy are making an attack on lapping the field. Twenty points to them if they are successful.

The team from Great Britain started really well but they have found themselves a little bit on the back foot going for sprints, timings slightly out and just not quite getting with the key moves at the moment.
