A very dominant performance. She led this from the beginning and it was never in question. We rarely see this dominance in the 100m.

Now this is a big race.

Win tonight, and Katie Ledecky extends her already astonishing legacy. Victory would see her win her ninth Olympic gold, equalling the record for the most gold medals by a female Olympian.

She'd also become the only swimmer other than the great Michael Phelps to win the same Olympic event four times in a row.

She's got her game face on - no acknowledgement to the crowd as she walks out just after rival Ariarne Titmus of Australia.

St Lucia will be rocking tonight, they will be going absolutely mental. Julien Alfred, cool, calm, collected.

Without a doubt anybody would have put their money on that woman when you looked at the nine women behind their blocks.

    A national record. Phenomenal running.

The 27-year-old is going up against Australian powerhouse Ariarne Titmus, herself the owner of two golds and one silver at these 2024 Games.

I was in Saint Lucia recently for cricket's T20 World Cup. It's a special, special place.

Other islands were hit harder but it was one of the Caribbean nations hit by Hurricane Beryl at the start of last month. There was significant damage in Soufriere, a small town in the south of the island that has an athletics track.

They deserve this moment of celebration.
