Mallory Franklin wasn't in the right position to go through the gate - she was then trying to make up time.

She got another touch on 14 and she was all over the place coming into 22. That will be so disappointing for Mallory Franklin.

Ah, that is absolutely gutting for Mallory Franklin.

Sometimes, it just isn't your day.

We know she can compete for these major medals, she has the track record to prove it, but that all unravelled for her very quickly.

It's a huge shame. Franklin would have been desperate to follow her team-mates and keep their successful start to the competition going.

Mallory Franklin has shown that she has it, there is no doubt about that, with her level of experience and calibre paddling that she has. It has been a really difficult preparation period. She is the current world champion but today it hasn't gone her way.

Mallory Franklin looked hugely anxious before she started that run and it just didn't fall in her favour.

An overall time of 165.15 seconds, including a 56 second penalty, has Mallory in fifth with five still to go.

GB's Joe Fraser will be the last to take to the floor, so we have a little wait until then.

Japan's Daiki Hashimoto, who is a strong tumbler, has just been and scored 14.633.

That means GB's Jake Jarman still has the highest score on the floor with 14.900.

But it is, of course, very early days.

A penalty for Mallory Franklin on gate seven.

Could that knock her out of medal contention?

Franklin needs to kick on now.

Oh no. Another penalty on gate 14 and one on gate 22.

It's not to be for Mallory.

3x3 basketball returns to the Olympics after first featuring at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

It's a faster paced style of the 5x5 game, which we see regularly play out in the NBA.

It originated on the streets, with simplicity and entertainment at its core.

Games take place on a half-court with one basket and three players per side, while a DJ plays non-stop music throughout.

A team needs 21 points to win or be leading after the 10-minute time limit. The eight teams per gender in Paris initially face each other in a round-robin phase.

Germany take on Australia in the first women's pool game, but there will be no British involvement in this event.

Elena Lilik is delighted with that run, you can see it all over her face. She has gotten her confidence back after looking very shaky in the semi-finals. She dealt with the pressure extremely well in that run.

So we're halfway through this final and it's Germany's Elena Lilik who leads the way.

Lilik has just completed her run and gets over the line in 103.54 seconds without a single penalty.

She lets out a huge scream because that could be enough to secure a medal.

Team GBs Mallory Franklin is next...

Jake Jarman has made a great start on the floor! He was the top qualifier on this apparatus and this evening he has scored a 14.900, which is 0.066 down on qualification but still higher than any other gymnast scored in qualifying.

No wonder he looked very happy at the end of that.

The margins are tight and mistakes can be very costly. It is an 'anything can happen' situation. But, Mallory Franklin has been in this environment before, she has been at an Olympics before, and she has picked up a medal before. I just hope she is in a great state of mind and lays down a good run.

Just off the end of the main canoe slalom course, there's a lovely calm bit of water for the athletes to warm up in, paddling with or against a current and also practising their gates.

It's also a bit of calm and quiet away from the main stand, which is as noisy as ever before this final as the DJ whips up the crowd, who are singing and dancing along.

Mallory Franklin, seventh up, has every chance of a medal here. Can she produce her best when it matters most?

    Cindy Ngamba gets the win.

She beats the tournament number three seed Tammara Thibeault, who won gold at the 2022 world championships, by coming from a round down to win on points.

That is some result and a statement from the Refugee Olympic Team fighter and she is elated, jumping around the ring.

She heads back to the dressing room alongside the Team GB coaches with a beaming smile on her face and a target on her back.

Jake Jarman and Joe Fraser have been introduced to the crowd. They are heading over to their first piece of apparatus - floor, where Jarman will be the first up.

Their final apparatus will be high bar – which basically guarantees a nerve-shredding finish.

Two days ago it was this piece where China let slip (quite literally) the team gold medal that they had comfortably in their sights when Su Weide pinged off twice.

It’s 2.8m off the ground and full of heart-stopping moments when gymnasts spin round and let go of the bar to somersault and then somehow re-catch the bar.
