Someone once suggested that there should be an 'average' competitor in each competion so you can see just how good these athletes are. As much as some of us think we can run, swim, bike etc. the pace these guys are doing it out, even the best amateur athlete would not even get close.

I'd be very keen to see this!

  2. 'Never give up' - Team GB keep fighting to the endpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 31 July

"We kept on pushing, never gave up," Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix said after she and Lois Toulson took bronze in the women's 10m synchro diving with a brilliant final dive.

It was a similar sentiment from triathlete Alex Yee after his stunning late surge to win gold.

"With 2.5km to go I thought I’m going to give myself one last chance at this and not give up, and here we are," he said.

Hannah Scott, who was part of the women's quad sculls who snatched gold after a photo finish, added: "The crew today were amazing. We kept it so cool to the end. We had the confidence."

Keep fighting until the end and you never know what might happen. It sounds so simple. And it is simple to say but Team GB are living it so far at these Olympic Games. This morning was the perfect example of that.

Will the same attitude lead to more medals this afternoon and evening...

It’s women’s canoe single semi-finals time at the Vaires-sur-Marne nautical stadium, where GB have already won a couple of medals - Kayak bronze for Kimberley Woods and Canoe silver for Adam Burgess.

Now it’s Mallory Franklin’s turn to bid for a medal in the women’s C1, with qualifying for the final under way at this spectacular venue.

The Tokyo silver medalist will be desperate to upgrade to gold later today and add to what has already been a wonderful Wednesday for GB - but she must make sure she has that opportunity first.

Kieran Reilly gave it his all. He put so much effort in and you could see that he threw everything including the kitchen sink at it.

He listened to what the judges criteria was and he used every inch of the course.

It was those little essences of style that he put in there, tricks here and there.

For me, it had absolutely everything but I think they will be taking away from it that maybe they need to look at the little bit extra that it takes to get that number one place.

As an amateur, gotta admire anyone that gets handed the reigns of a horse and gets told to make it dance. I'd pluck for Sandstorm by Darude and hope for the best.

Not entirely sure what my roly-poly would score for my floor routine. Or whether you could even class it as gymnastics.

The judges were looking for people who were really pushing themselves and pushing the limit of what is possible.

The amplitude of what can be done and that technical difficulty and Jose Torres Gil's run pretty much had everything of that.

The pressure of the Olympics was shown and these are some of the biggest crowds that people have ever ridden in front of.

The judges really took their time over that one. They know it's a huge moment in this final.

Anthony Jeanjean stayed out on the course to take the adulation of the crowd when that score of 93.76 came in.

It replaces GB's Kieran Reilly in second place with the Brit still to drop his second run.
