You have to take away the noise of the Olympics, take away the banners, have your blinkers on. Be really focussed on each stroke at a time, the minute you cross that finish line, it's almost like the flood gates can open. You've got to give yourself time now to soak it up and allow yourself to enjoy it.

Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix said: “I don’t think there is anyway to describe what we are feeling. We are so happy. We have worked so hard.

“I am sorry we gave everyone a hard time but we always know how to close a competition.”

Lois Toulson said: “There was a blip in the middle with our third dive which is usually one of our strongest. We stayed confident and calm.”

More from members of the historic gold medallists in the women's quad sculls...

Hannah Scott: "It’s been a long time in the making and I still can’t quite believe it. I don’t know if I’m emotional yet but that will come. I think we were so process-driven today and the immensity of what this is, it hasn’t caught up with me.

"The crew today were amazing. We kept it so cool to the end. We had the confidence, we’ve done so many hard miles in training and for anyone out there just go for it. If you think you can you might just do it one day, and that’s the really cool thing about the Olympics."

After that amazing push for the line by the winning women's quad sculls team, they caught up with Matthew Pinsent...

Lola Anderson: "We spent ages working towards this and as a boat we’re so process-driven, we’re always looking to what comes next but when you’re getting towards the end of a cycle like this, and it doesn’t get bigger than this, it’s quite overwhelming to experience this, but really grateful."

How long ago was it that you wrote your dreams down on a piece of paper? "13 years ago, I’d forgotten about it until a couple of years ago, my dad reminded me of it and I know that he would be so proud and I’m thinking a lot about him right now."

    Incroyable!

That tally has been doubled in less than 24 hours as Daniel Wiffen, Jack McMillan and now Hannah Scott all claim gold!

What a finish! That was something else from the GB crew!

What a morning! Medals always feel sweeter when they are won with some drama and we've had it in spades! First the girls in the diving, then Alex Yee in the triathlon, then the girls in rowing. Wow!! This why we love sport.

It's infectious when you get a gold and see your team-mates at the top of the podium. It breathes confidence through the team.

It'll be really fascinating to see how the next few days pan out with the rest of the British boats.

Decided to work from home today (guess why) and working towards an important client deadline just after lunch. Managed to waste the first hour of the day chasing my pet parrot Roger back inside after he got out intothe garden, and now spent the next two watching the triathlon and rowing. Think I’ll be sending some sheepish emails soon… worth it though! Fantastic effort from Yee and the girls in the boat.

He just rallied, you know? You compare it to maybe a marathon, when people talk about hitting the wall. The marathon that takes two and a half hours, you see them go through dips, you rarely see that in a 10k but we just saw that with Alex Yee.

He went through a torrid time in the first 10 minutes of that race. But he rallied. Only he can tell us what he went through. The beauty of the triathlon is the ebbs and flows.

Alex Yee with the rope-a-dope in the Triathlon! The bravery and the confidence in yourself to hold back that extra performance to unleash it over the closing metres. Absolutely incredible.

That's the training programme, that's the power, that's the belief they had. The Brits did this to the Dutch a year ago at the World Championships so they knew they could do it. Going into the last 100 meters of an Olympic rowing final, down, takes some guts.

That was absolutely phenomenal from GB to snatch the gold medal from the Netherlands right on the line.

The race looked over with 250m to go but the team of Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgie Brayshaw dug incredibly deep to take the win.

That is a sixth gold medal for Great Britain!
