    We have a new leader!

Australia got off to a rapid start and were turning the clock green for the first half of that race.

It turned to red briefly, near 2,000m, but they get back on track and cross the line 0.283 seconds faster than the British team.

The British team are still at the top of the qualification standings.

France have moved into second place, but their time was over two seconds slower than GB's.

There's three teams left to go. That includes the reigning Olympic champions and world record holders Italy, who will set off last.

That is a sickener for GB.

With 29 seconds left before half-time, they concede a penalty corner to the Netherlands.

Miriam Pritchard saves Yibbi Jansen's initial shot but a little flick by Luna Fokke off the rebound beat the British keeper.

GB referred it, thinking there was a foul in the build-up, but after a long wait, it's gone down as a goal - and GB have lost their referral.

    Fast times on fast bikes.

British Cycling unveiled its cutting-edge track bike for Paris 2024 back in April. Notable developments include a 3D-printed titanium crank and unique trailing-edged fork and handlebars that support increased aerodynamic positioning.

The UCI states that all equipment has to be commercially available, so want one for yourself? It’ll set you back a cool £55,000.

The frame alone, according to the UCI’s equipment list, costs 29,188 euros (£25,000).

But that’s nothing. The frame of Japan’s bike breaks the bank at more than £100,000.

Olympic high jump champion Gianmarco Tamberi has suggested he could be on his way to Paris 2024 to defend his crown.

On Sunday, Tamberi announced on Instagram that he had been taken to hospital with a suspected kidney problem.

"Unbelievable... this can't be true. Yesterday... I felt a stabbing pain in my side," Tamberi said.

"Emergency room, CT scan, ultrasound, blood test. Probable kidney stone.

"And now I find myself, three days before the event for which I sacrificed everything, lying in a bed, helpless, with a fever of 38.8."

The 32-year-old said he had been advised to postpone his travel to Paris until Monday.

And his latest activity on social media, external seems to hint he is en route to the French capital - posting an image looking out of a window on a plane with a praying hands emoji.

The qualifying competition takes place on Wednesday morning, with the final on Sunday.

In one of the most iconic moments in Tokyo three years ago, Italy's Tamberi and Qatar's Mutaz Barshim agreed to share gold after asking permission from the event officials when they could not be split - having recorded the same clearances.

We have seen a top ride there from Team GB. This team are genuine gold medal contenders and they have made that very clear.

There is no other team on the track remember, and that makes a difference time wise. They are essentially travelling at world record pace. If you allow another team on the track that gives you a lift. I would not like to have to follow that one.

Will Lopez take centre stage again?published at 16:59 British Summer Time 5 August

Led by captain Achraf Hakimi and the tournament's leading goalscorer Soufiane Rahimi, with five goals, Morocco beat Argentina 2-1 in a chaotic Group B opener before a 3-0 win over Iraq, suffering only a 2-1 stumble against Ukraine in between.

They then of course absolutely thrashed the United States 4-0.

In similar fashion, Spain earned a 2-1 victory against Uzbekistan and 3-1 win over the Dominican Republic before suffering a 2-1 loss to in Group C winners Egypt.

Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez took centre stage for the Spanish in their 3-0 quarter-final with over Japan.

The 21-year-old, who was part of Spain's victorious Euro 2024 squad, opened the scoring early on with a left-foot drive into the right corner and added his second, with a dipping right-foot shot from 20 yards, after the break.

    Hannah French!

She's equalised for Great Britain midway through the second quarter, finding herself in the right place at the right time to snaffle a rebound from a penalty corner and lift it over the diving Dutch keeper.

That gets the British fans going, but they're soon drowned out by the Dutch supporters as the defending champions pile the pressure back on...

Morocco reached the last four of the men's football competition with a resounding 4-0 victory over the United States in Paris, while Spain progressed with a 3-0 win against Japan, that was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested.

And this could be an intriguing affair given there will be plenty of familiar faces on opposing sides.

Morocco right-back Achraf Hakimi and Spain goalkeeper Arnau Tenas are team-mates at Paris St-Germain right-back. Ilias Akhomach and Alex Baena both play for Villarreal and until recently Abde Ezzalzouli and Juan Miranda were colleagues at Real Betis.

Great Britain have defended the circle well. They knew they were going to have to do a lot of defending.

The Netherlands, having scored that early goal, haven’t had to come out and play full-out. They’ve been able to keep the ball back.

Great Britain weren’t willing to press out in that first quarter, but here they’re putting a little bit more pressure on.
