    Men's football semi-finals - Morocco v Spain (17:00 BST)

Spain take on Morocco shortly looking to reach their second consecutive Olympic men's football final.

The Spanish media have also described the contest as a chance for the silver medallists from the Tokyo Games to avenge their last-16 defeat to the African nation at the World Cup two years ago.

Meanwhile, Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi says it is another opportunity for his country to show their progress after after reaching the semi-finals of the competition for the first time.

"The World Cup opened the doors for us, we know Moroccan football is growing," said Hakimi.

"We have to demonstrate to the youngsters that we are capable of fighting the heavyweights."

You'll spot a familiar face among those holding the GB riders in position at the start.

    Sir Jason Kenny.

Since his retirement, he's now a coach for British Cycling with the men's sprint squad.

With seven Olympic gold medals he's certainly got wisdom to pass on.

You are aiming to be spent by the time you get to the finish line, but not a minute before.

Even if one rider drops the pace, even if you are going ok and can hold the speed, you aren't able to lift it back up again. Too much power is required when the tank is almost empty.

That's three teams across the finish line, with Belgium clocking the fastest time so far.

Three minutes 47.232 seconds is the time to beat.

GB's Ethan Hayter, Oliver Wood, Daniel Bigham and Ethan Vernon are up next.

    Off they go...

To say that wasn't the start GB were looking for is an understatement.

They've had their first penalty corner and a shot on goal, with Anna Toman's lofted strike bashed away by keeper Anne Veenendaal.

The Netherlands are just so strong in every facet and they're happy to just keep possession and ping the ball around. GB need to make the chances, when they do come, count.

Four-time Olympic gold medallist Ariarne Titmus is planning to take a "very extended break" from swimming with the aim of being back to her best for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The Australian won two golds and two silvers in the pool in Paris.

"I'm definitely having a very extended break. I haven't planned when I'm going back to swimming. I want to go back when I feel ready to go back. Could be up to 12 months," the 23-year-old Titmus told reporters in Paris.

From Denmark engineer, to GB rider...published at 16:45 British Summer Time 5 August

Dan Bigham has an incredible tale.

Three years ago, he was at the Tokyo Olympics. He could have been there alongside his Great Britain team-mates, skin suit on, ready to race. Instead, he was there not as a rider, but as a performance engineer for Denmark.

He thought the page had been turned on his chapter as a GB track cyclist. Told to choose between cycling and engineering, Bigham had opted for the latter - his biggest passion.

Yet now he is fine-tuning for another Olympic Games. And this time, in Paris, he will be taking to the boards wearing the red, white and blue of Team GB.

This is going to be a tense match.

The Netherlands have scored one of the quickest goals I have ever seen in a hockey match and it was scored by Xan de Waard, considered the best hockey player in the world.

    A beautiful effort.

The two-time world champion, who also won bronze in Rio in 2016, celebrating by handing his racquet to a child in the crowd.

Vitidsarn took the men's singles title in the 2023 badminton world championships, but the 23-year-old had to settle for silver in Paris.

Meanwhile Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia won bronze, defeating India's Lakshya Sen, 13-21 21-16 21-11.

How does the team pursuit work?published at 16:41 British Summer Time 5 August

Track cycling - men's team pursuit qualification

No messing around in the velodrome - we're straight into the qualification round for the men's team pursuit.

    So, how does it work?

There are 10 teams in both the men's and women's events, an increase from eight at Tokyo. Teams have four riders and the races take place over 4km.

Teams start on opposing sides of the track, and the winner is whichever team catches the other team or records the fastest time over the 4km distance.

The time is taken from when the front wheel of the third rider crosses the line – so only three riders need to finish to register a time.

Like in the team sprint, qualification is used to seed the teams who ride alone against the clock.

Next up we have the men’s team pursuit qualifying. Ethan Hayter, Ollie Wood, Dan Bigham and Ethan Vernon line up for Great Britain with a job to do.

In Tokyo three years ago, Team GB lost the Olympic title they had won in 2008, 2012 and 2016, crashing out against Denmark in the semi-finals.

They come into Paris as the current European champions, and also won world gold in 2022.

Ten teams will race in qualifying, with the eight fastest progressing to the first round tomorrow.

The seats are still filling up but when I tell you the stands are filled with bright orange shirts, I mean it.

There's vocal pockets of support for GB but they're outnumbered by the masses of Dutch fans, who are waving flags with 'champions' written on them.

I, meanwhile, appear to have turned up wearing orange. So that's strong.
