More scheduling drama in the sailing in Marseille, with the women's kite currently delayed after one of three scheduled races.

Team GB's Eleanor Aldridge finished fourth in the one race that did get underway, her worst result of her five outings so far, and currently sits second in the standings.

John Gimson and Anna Burnet had better luck with the conditions in the mixed multihull, recording a fifth and two fourths in today's three races.

They sit one place out of the medal positions in the standings, with four races remaining in the competition.

How can you not be engrossed and excited by this? Joe Clarke has come back from disappointment in the K1, a fifth place finish a few days ago, and has secured that silver medal.

He was closed out from the beginning, I wonder if that was a tactic to reduce his paddle space to prevent that rapid start that we know he has.

Noemie Fox, the poster girl of this sport, wins gold for Australia.

She is in tears, she can't believe it.

Kimberley Woods just couldn't get round the upstream gates. She wins bronze, what drama.

There was a fault for Elena Lilik, the German missed a gate and Woods wins herself another medal.

    That is magic.

Joe Clarke wins silver and he is happy with it.

He's got himself a silver medal. What a run from Finn Butcher, he has won gold from New Zealand and he takes a massive pat on the back from his coach at the water's edge.

Clarke's start just let him down in the final, he was the favourite coming in to this. He is absolutely delighted with his silver.

Silver for Great Britain, following in from Kim Woods' bronze.

It's been a good day on the white water so far for Great Britain.

Changing of the guard?published at 16:04 British Summer Time 5 August

This Olympics sees a sort of changing of the guard for Team GB track cycling.

Since Tokyo, both Sir Jason and Dame Laura Kenny - the most successful male and female track cyclists with 12 golds between them - have retired, while Katie Archibald, a double gold medallist in the endurance events, misses out after a freak garden injury.

There are still some familiar names in Elinor Barker, Neah Evans and Jack Carlin, but some you might not know.

One to keep an eye on is Emma Finucane. She’s tipped to become a sprint superstar. At 21 she’s already the individual world champion, and is going for a hat-trick in Paris this week.

    Women's kayak cross final

Team GB's Kimberley Woods said she would print off a paper copy of the 2024 Olympic medals before heading to Paris, with the hope of eventually replacing the printouts with the real thing.

Woods is one step closer to realising that dream after coming first in her semi-final.

It's a technique the Rugby-born athlete used at last year’s world championships, where she was the most successful paddler, claiming four medals, including gold in the women’s kayak cross - upgrading from the silver in kayak cross that she had won in 2022.

She finished the year as the World Cup champion in the discipline after finishing in the top two in her last three races, including a second place in the World Cup final on the Olympic course in Paris.

She goes off in the final at 15:55 BST.

They want it still and hot in here because that means fast times.

We want low air pressure and we want it to be as hot as we can possibly handle because that means that records are likely to be broken.

This is how the athletes want it, there will be no air flow, the doors will be shut.

Unless you've ever been in a velodrome, it's hard to appreciate just how steep these bankings are (roughly 45 degrees). These photos certainly don't do it justice.

The track here is unique in that it is eight metres wide, compared to the standard seven, giving sprinters added momentum as they launch their attacks from the top.

    World records will likely tumble.
