I cannot believe how busy it is - people are packed in about 10 deep on the streets to watch the bikes wind past them.

It’s an absolutely beautiful setting anyway but the sun is out and Paris looks stunning.

Alex Yee has come over to the changeover to cheer on Georgia Taylor-Brown, who is giving herself and Team GB a cracking lead.

There is not time to breathe in this mixed relay, it is fine margins. The gap that Alex Yee gave Brown is beating eaten up by the German athlete, Lisa Tertsch.

Huge cheers for France’s Pierre le Corre, who has an absolute mare on the bike after a clatter with New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde. He’ll have to go for it on the run to try and make up that time - he was third at the transition from swim to bike. The French fans are roaring and stamping their feet to try and get him back into contention.

That crash from Hayden Wilde is so unlike him. Wilde is 15 seconds down on the pack, Pierre le Corre is 27 seconds back. We know how good this French team are, but 27 seconds is a monumental deficit to chase back to stand any chance of a gold medal.

France set back by bike collisionpublished at 07:16 British Summer Time 5 August

    Triathlon mixed team relay

It is a spectacular course, as the athletes cycle right through the middle of the city with thousands of fans lining up along the cobbled streets.

But they won't be cheering this! France's Pierre le Corre gets tangled in a collision with New Zealand's Hayden Wilde, and has to do some repairs to his bike, with the chain coming off.

It was a nasty fall and that sets them back considerably, and he's going to have to pull off something amazing in this 2km run.

But Alex Yee is going well. He's in second place as the run gets under way.

The level of co-ordination you need to do everything quickly is remarkable. The bikes are right in front of me and Alex Yee had to run, grab his bike, whack his helmet on, run with the bike, get on it, get his feet in the pedals all while keeping an eye on the field in front and behind him. I’d be in a heap.
