Everyone at Le Bourget is on their feet after Japan's Sorato Anraku becomes the first climber to scale the whole way up boulder two.

Nineteen climbers have come and gone and been unable to reach the top but the 17-year-old cruised to the top of there.

Not only that he did it on his first go inside one minute. Light work.

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport in Paris

Oh no! Controversy to begin Toby Roberts' campaign!

The Brit qualified for the Games by winning the European qualifying event last year and is one of the top seeds here in Paris.

He reaches the top of the first problem but the judges aren't happy, they don't think he's held it for long enough so he's denied the top score and instead takes a 9.8 from the first problem.

That could prove hugely costly for the 19-year-old and he will not be happy with that. But he's got to move on to take on the next three problems.

The home crowd go absolutely wild as their man Sam Avezou nails the top hold on the fourth and final problem!

As we've seen so many times at this Games, the French athletes are thriving on this support and atmosphere and Aveou laps it up.

Currently, Hamish McArthur has slipped down to fourth place. It's still a really solid position to be in with some of the top seeded climbers still to come.

Up next, it's Great Britain's second hope - Toby Roberts.

Despite the GB triathlon team being downgraded from silver to bronze medal in the mixed relay, they were still happy, and spoke to BBC Sport:

Has your opinion changed of the team changed now the colour of the medal changed?

Alex Yee: “No not at all. I’m amazingly proud of these guys. We did absolutely everything we can for Team GB and I couldn’t be prouder of these guys and the performance we put on today.

“An amazing day out and am amazing day for the sport as well.”

On all the uncertainty around the events:

Georgia Taylor-Brown: “I think we’ve been pretty good as a collective, just going with the flow, especially with the boys’ race being moved.

"I think they showed us that you just have to go with it. We didn’t know what was happening last night, we got an email late to say that the race would be happening.

“I think we’ve all just kept our cool, we’ve enjoyed the whole experience.”

Sam Dickinson on his debut: “The winner was triathlon I think today. It’s known as an individual sport but we’re showing the team element as well which is super important.

“We’re the lucky people with medals around our necks but there is an army of people who all deserve this medal as much as we do. They’re with us day in and day out, so this one is for all of them.”

What does performance (gold and two bronzes) add to the legacy of the sport in this country:

Beth Potter: “It’s great, we’ve managed to take medals home in the last four games and it’s great for Britain and for triathlon.”
