The track welcomes the women's 400m semi-finals next on track.

Victoria Ohuruogu is up first, Laviai Nielsen is next and Amber Anning goes in the third semi-final.

The athletes in the first race are being held for what feels like a lifetime and Lieke Klaver of the Netherlands goes too early. She argues her case and is given a yellow card.

Team GB's Daniel Bigham speaking to BBC TV after collecting his men's team pursuit silver medal: "I guess you want that fairytale ending. You want to stand on the top step, but it is still such a proud moment.

"Collectively, we keep saying we have had an up and down last few years but we have built on it. We've had some epic results. We won the worlds here [in Paris], won the Euros earlier this year and we've ridden faster than we ever have before.

"We've enjoyed the process. As a crew we came here planning to execute what we thought was going to win. We did the times we knew we were capable of and we take a huge amount of pride in that.

"We can hold our heads high. In time we will definitely look back and realise that this was a pretty top moment, but we really did want that gold medal.

"I won't be there in four years but these guys will be and I bet good money on them taking gold."

On her sister Victoria Ohuruogu coming through the repechage...

I can understand how sometimes the first round can be quite daunting. It's almost like you need a warm up to get going so I was hoping that that would be the case in the repechage and she had the first day to get over the nerves and to understand being at the Olympic stadium.

Also knowing that you are running for something very specifically after you are very disappointed on the first day adds another bit of fire to you. She did look different. I think she likes running in lane eight and I think she fully understands what you have to do.

I'm wishing her all the best but she has worked really hard to get here so I'm just proud of her anyway.

If you're just joining us tonight, hello!

Here's how the men's 100m champion Noah Lyles got on a few moments ago in the second semi-final of the men's 200m.

Commentator Steve Cram said "lane draw is going to be important" for the final.

What lane will the American gold medallist line up in?

    Number five.

It is hard to predict what Noah Lyles is going to do at major championships but he has that unwavering belief in himself.

Confidence isn't a strong enough word for Lyles, we need to invent a new way to describe the way he conducts himself and feels about his talent.

He has got the hunger and unbelievable drive to push in that latter part of finals when it really matters.

How will Matthew Hudson-Smith be feeling right now? Probably nervous, as the final of the men's 400m is inching closer and closer.

The athletes will be lining up at 20:20 BST.

There isn't quite enough time to watch Chariots of Fire in full, but the spirit of that 1924 race is very much in the air for Great Britain's Hudson-Smith tonight.

This has been a real crowd pleaser from the United States - their theme was sorceresses and it's fair to say they have bewitched the crowd with a creative routine featuring some spectacular throws.

And the magic has worked on the judges too as they score 271.3166 to sit top of the standings with 914.3421, with just favourites China to go now.

They are jumping up and down in celebration - they know they have got a medal - the huddle of arms and legs looks a bit like a dry-land version of what they have just done in the water.

Note down Thursday at 19:30 BST on your calendars for the final of the men's 200m.

Letsile Tebogo of Botswana (the far left of the picture) clocked the quickest time across the three semi-finals with a 19.96 seconds.

Is Tebogo, who won 200m bronze at the world championships last year, going to spoil Noah Lyles' double Olympic party?

Noah Lyles did not look good in that semi-final race. He looked a little sluggish.

It would not surprise me if he has been busy with appearances and talking and talking and more talking in the last couple of days since he won that gold.

He will continue to believe in himself, like he did with the 100m, so I expect the same here.

    Basketball - women's quarter-final: Germany 71-84 France

France are into the semi-finals following a relatively comfortable win against Germany at Bercy Arena.

The hosts led through each quarter, thanks largely to the efforts of Marine Johannes, who scored 24 points.

They will face Belgium in the last four with another victory earning a spot in the gold medal match and defeat sending them into the bronze medal game.

There's still one more quarter-final to come tonight with big favourites USA going up against Nigeria at 20:30 BST.

Tapiwanashe Makarawu had his eyes on a final spot and shot out of the blocks, but the Zimbabwean is beaten on the line by Joseph Fahnbulleh of Liberia.

There will definitely be a new Olympic champion here since Russia – who have won all the past six titles – are banned following the invasion of Ukraine.

China – silver medallists at the past three Games - are favourites to win their first medal in artistic swimming. They will be the last team to perform.

Great Britain are not in the team event but will have Kate Shortman and Izzy Thorpe competing in the pairs on Friday and Saturday.

Noah Lyles was just putting the pressure Tebogo on as he came out of the bend and then just realised, am I going to go into a battle?

In the 100m semi finals when he raced Seville he didn't really push then did he? And he shone in the final when it really mattered.

Is he playing the same game here?

Artistic swimming has always been a female-only sport at previous Games. This time, however, men have been allowed to enter the team competition.

    However, none have been picked.

The closest to getting selected was 45-year-old American Bill May, who had been in the squad this year but was then left out in the final team announcement.

So, a change to the rules that hasn't really changed anything.
