    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

Matthew Hudson-Smith has been on this trajectory, he has continued to improve his race execution, how he runs his races.

He comes into this in about the most perfect position that he could possibly come into this having run personal bests, European champion, got on the podium and now he wants gold.

I'd like to think that he could win it, but I struggle with it a bit because there is so much talent in this race.

Kirani James is just a veteran that you can never count out. He has a gold, a silver and a bronze at the Olympics. He is probably going to add to one of those tonight and it could be any one of them.

He could absolutely be another gold medallist tonight. That sort of dominance and that sort of experience is invaluable.

Team GB's Elinor Barker speaking to the BBC after the women's pursuit team win bronze: "Maybe the cameras don't pick up that level of detail but we definitely lost our nerve, well at least I did. We thought we would be a bit further up on them, so to see before the end that it was really quite close, I did not expect that.

On setting a new national record: "I was really, really happy with that. I had a really good feeling on the start line, felt a bit like a sprung coil ready to go. I am just glad to get that feeling because it is so rare to feel like that on a big race day. I'm really glad it has all fallen into place."

Australia have opened the night with a high-energy cheerleading-themed routine.

Remember, when they perform they can’t touch the bottom of the pool. That is a lot of treading water, without taking into account the somersaults and lifts.

You’ve really got to trust your team-mates a lot when they throw you high up into the air.
