    Highlights

Katarina Johnson-Thompson's heptathlon comes to an end with the 800m (19:15). She leads after four events and heads to Paris as the world champion, where she is up against Belgium’s Nafi Thiam, herself searching for a remarkable third consecutive heptathlon Olympic title.

The men’s 4x100m relay final (18:45) is almost always the scene of triumph and disaster on a grand scale. GB were fourth in last year’s world final, which was won by the US. Dina Asher-Smith is expected to lead the GB women’s sprint relay team in their final at 18:30.

Track cycling on Friday includes the women’s madison (final at 17:09), British duo Neah Evans and Elinor Barker won world gold last year. The men’s sprint (from 13:41) offers one of the most captivating tactical events in cycling, where contenders can almost end up at a standstill in a bid to catch the other off-guard before racing to the line. GB’s Jack Carlin has Olympic and world bronze in the event.

The women’s hockey final is at 19:00. The Netherlands reached their sixth successive Olympic women's hockey final with a 3-0 thrashing of Argentina. They will face China, who beat Belgium in a shootout, in the gold-medal decider.

Great Britain took another medal at the velodrome on day 13 of the Olympic Games.

Team GB's Emma Finucane took bronze in the women's keirin to win what she described as a "surreal" second medal of the Paris Olympics.

Katy Marchant, who like Finucane was part of the team sprint gold-winning team earlier this week, came fourth.

There was disappointment for fellow Briton Ethan Hayter as he finished out of the medals in the men's omnium, coming eighth in a four-race event won by France's Benjamin Thomas.

In the day's other action at the velodrome, Britain's Jack Carlin qualified for the semi-finals of the men's sprint but Hamish Turnbull was eliminated.

More from USA's 100m champion Noah Lyles, who spoke to BBC Sport about his health after finishing third in the men's 200m final:

“I do have Covid. I tested positive around 5am on Tuesday morning. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling real chills, aching, sore throat, and those were a lot of the symptoms I’ve had right before getting Covid.

"We tested, it came back positive and we quickly quarantined in a hotel nearby the (Olympic) Village. We tried to get me on as much medication as we legally could to make sure my body could keep the momentum going.

"I still wanted to run. It was still possible - we just stayed away from everybody. I knew that if I wanted to come out here and win. I had to give everything I had from the get go. I didn’t have any time to save energy. That was the strategy."

I’m more proud of myself than anything, coming out here to get a bronze with Covid.

“I was going to compete. If I didn’t make it to the final, that would’ve been the sign not to compete.”
