    • We have another gold medal for Team GB, courtesy of Ellie Aldridge in the women's kite final. Read more here.
    • Meanwhile, Emma Finucane took bronze in the women's keirin.
    • Team GB's Katarina Johnson-Thompson continues to impress in the heptathlon, with the shot put and 200m tonight.
    • Letsile Tebogo denied Noah Lyles a sprint double with victory in the men's 200m (see video below)
    • The Netherlands' Sharon van Rouwendaal dedicated her gold in the women's 10km marathon swim to her late pet dog.
    • GB's women won their heat in the first round of the 4x100m relay, while the British men come third to progress.
    • Jade Jones' bid for Olympic history ended after another early defeat for the Briton in the taekwondo -57kg first round. She also lost in the repechage round.
    • Also in the taekwondo, Bradly Sinden missed out on the chance of gold in 68kg, but will fight for bronze at 19:19.
    • Britain's John Gimson and Anna Burnet's hopes of claiming a medal in the mixed multihull ended when they were disqualified in the final race.
    • There was also disappointment for Jack Laugher and Chris Houlden who finished outside the medal places in the men's 3m springboard diving final.
    • GB's Grace Reid and Yasmin Harper progressed to the 3m springboard final.

    The first heat in the 200m event in the heptathlon is complete and current leader Nafi Thiam of Belgium crosses the line in second place and picks up 937 points, lifting her on to 4007 points in total.

    Great Britain's Jade O'Dowda finishes in sixth place, taking 890 points and moving up to fifth in the overall standings.

    This is Noah Lyles' moment - and he knows it.

    The American springs out on to the track before running away from the start line and calling for more from the already excited crowd.

    In a matter of moments he will aim to become the first man since Usain Bolt to complete the Olympic 100m and 200m sprint double.

    Only nine men in history have ever achieved that feat, while no American man has done so since Carl Lewis in Los Angeles 40 years ago.
