    It's one in which the last rider in each intermediate sprint – which is held every two laps – is eliminated.

    This continues until there are two riders left – the winner of the subsequent sprint is the winner of the race.

    This will be fun. Can GB's Ethan Hayter make up some points to put himself in a good position going into the points race?

    Switzerland's Morgane Metraux shot a six-under 66 on day two to move eight under par and take the halfway lead of the women's golf competition at Le Golf National.

    The 27-year-old made an eagle and four birdies in her first six holes and is one shot clear of China's Ruoning Yin, with Tokyo bronze-medallist Lydia Ko of New Zealand at five under par.

    Overnight leader Celine Boutier slipped five off Metraux after a disappointing four-over 76.

    Meanwhile, Team GB's Charley Hull was 10 shots better than her opening round, carding a one-under 71 to move to eight over par.

    Team-mate Georgia Hall is four over after a second straight 74.
