It went to a photo finish in the women's keirin semi-finals and it was between Britain's Emma Finucane and Steffie van der Peet of the Netherlands to see who got third.

It goes Finucane's way as she finished 0.004 seconds ahead of Van der Peet to reach the final.

It is frantic at the moment in the velodrome. Next up is the women's keirin semi-finals. Britain's Emma Finucane goes in semi-final one, needing a top-three finish to get into the final.

This is how she qualified.

Jack Carlin has lost his opening race against Japan's Kaiya Ota, but there is still hope for the Briton as he will make the semi-finals if he wins their next two races.

Britain's Hamish Turnbull has taken the first race in the men's sprint quarter-finals against Jeffrey Hoogland, who was part of the Dutch trio that won gold in the team event.

A potential two more races to go and Turnbull will advance if he wins one of them.

Next up fellow Briton Jack Carlin against Kaiya Ota of Japan.

That race is very tricky because if you see someone gather 30 or 40 points you're not going to be very competitive picking up ones.

After two events out of four in the men's omnium, Great Britain's Ethan Hayter is lying in 10th on 48 points in total, with Belgium's Fabio van den Bossche leading the way on 76 with Denmark's Niklas Larsen on 68 and Iuri Leitao of Portugal on 66.

You're thinking 'conserve energy, get through safely'. You don't want to absolutely smash it at the front and waste a lot of effort but it can be sketchy in there.

As we saw in the other heat, a little flick of the wheels, a little mistake and you could be sliding along the deck and regretting your choices.

Both Britons are safely through to semi-finals of the women's keirin. Emma Finucane came second in her race, with Katy Marchant third in hers. The top four from each of the three races have advanced.

Not long to relax before they go again with the semi-finals at 17:15 BST.

We're back on the omnium for the tempo race, where Ethan Hayter will be hoping to pick up some points.

Like the scratch, this is also over 40 laps. From the fifth lap, intermediate sprints are held every lap. The first rider in each sprint is awarded one point, including for the final sprint.

A rider who gains a lap on the field earns 20 points, while a rider losing a lap is deducted 20 points.
