More from Team GB's Emma Finucane, who won a bronze medal in the women's keirin: “I'm just so thankful for everyone back at home. All the times I haven’t been back to Wales to see my family and all the support they have given me I just want to give it back to them.

“It's honestly so surreal, I’m just living my little dream to be honest. I can’t believe it.

“That’s my whole family, they’ve come from Carmarthen. To look at them in the crowd and to see the union jack flags and their little faces supporting me whether I win or lose it's about that.

“It’s about giving back to my family, them watching me with a smile on my face and I couldn't have given any more today. Congrats to Ellesse and to Hetty [silver medallist van de Wouw] and to get that bronze was unreal - I can’t believe it."

GB bronze medallist Emma Finucane speaking to BBC One: “Going up in that final and scraping through the semi, I knew I had to find something in my legs that I hadn't seen before.

"Ellesse [Andrews] is world champion, she has demonstrated today that she is so strong and all of the other girls in that final, we’re the strongest girls in the world that’s why we are in the Olympic final and to even be there next to one of my best friends Katie [Marchant] was such a pinch me moment.

“To get a bronze medal, it literally feels like gold to me because I left everything out there on the track.

“If you told me a year ago I’d be coming to the Olympics and getting a gold in track sprint and then bronze in keirin, I would've been like ‘no way’ but here I am.”

    Track cycling - men's omnium

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Paris

The last race of the men's omnium will be thrilling and possibly chaotic - the points race.

The race is over 25km (100 laps) and final placings are decided according to accumulated points won by riders during mid-race sprints.

Sprints are held every 10 laps. The first rider in each sprint gets five points, the second gets three, the third takes two and the fourth gets one point.

For the final sprint the points are doubled. Any rider that gains a lap gets 20 point, while any rider who is lapped is deducted 20 points.

So, a lot of points at stake - it is going to be hard to keep count.
