We are getting closer and closer to almost having a whole field in the final who have broken 44 seconds. Like we saw in the 100 metres, with every finalist having broken ten seconds, well 9.91 to be exact.

Last week there was talk about a 'slow' pool in the swimming, well this track is certainly a 'fast' one. These guys competing in the 400 metres are just all in form and it is coming together for all of them.

I wonder whether Team GB went out fast on purpose to give a false sense of security to Denmark and to make them run outside of their schedule, knowing they had a really strong last four laps. It seems crazy but that is how the race panned out.

    WHAT A RACE.

GB started well, then Denmark took the lead and that gap was getting bigger and bigger.

But GB reeled them back and have now guaranteed themselves another Olympic medal.

But will it be gold or silver? Unfortunately, we have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

    That was a rollercoaster.

"Since Tokyo I have learned a lot. A lot of injuries. I was one spot away from qualifying for the surfing. It made me stronger. I am super stoked. I wasn’t even sure I was going to make it here.

“The level for girls skating is crazy. Since Tokyo the level has changed crazily.”

What had I achieved by the age of 16? A few county schools chess wins, some minor football success in the town where I grew up, but certainly not 2 Bronze medals! What a star and role model for youngsters today. Amazing, well done Sky!

  9. What's already happened & what's still to come on day 11published at 18:40 British Summer Time 6 August

Here's a look at what's happened so far today at the Paris Olympics:

    • GB's 16-year-old skateboarding star Sky Brown overcame a dislocated shoulder to win bronze in the women's park final.
    • Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix was overcome by emotion after finishing sixth in the women's 10m platform diving final, failing to add to the bronze she won in the synchronised event last week.
    • But team GB failed to add to their equestrian medal haul with Ben Maher and Scott Brash coming up short and Germany's Christian Kukuk winning gold in the jumping individual final.
    • Britons Laura Muir and Georgia Bell qualified for the women's 1500m semi-finals, while Victoria Ohuruogu made it into the women's 400m semis.

    And here's what's coming up:

    • Team GB are bidding for a medal in the men's team sprint in cycling, although the Netherlands are favourites to win gold. The final is at 19:10 BST.

The emotion has just hit Keely Hodgkinson as she steps up to the top of the podium, to be presented with her Olympic 800m gold medal after an outstanding performance last night.

There is terrific British support at the Stade de France again this evening in anticipation of another gold but the whole stadium celebrates Hodgkinson's crowning moment after her run of three successive global silvers.

Teary-eyed as the national anthem is played, she just about holds it together before world champion and Mary Moraa gathers the medallists for a quick selfie.

It is the moment she had dreamed about for so long. Keely Hodgkinson, Olympic champion!

All three GB riders performed perfectly to the plan that they had and that's the best performance we can see from them.

Still nothing to separate these teams. What a chance for USA's Mallory Swanson a few minutes ago. She did all the right things, dribbled past several players to get into the box, but could only pull her finish wide of the right post. Germany have had chances of their own, Julia Gwinn going the closest.

It does have the feeling at the moment that this game could be one to go all the way through extra time and nervy spot kicks.

There is room for improvement, sadly, for the Dutch.

I think they could go sub 41 which is incredible, asbolutely incredible.

Any time during the Olympic cycle, they step up and they are just a length ahead of everyone else.

Team GB are seven bike lengths behind them at that pace.
