Just making this skateboarding competition has been a brutal challenge.

The top 22 in the world have fought their way through to this stage - but only eight can make the final.

There will be four heats and the first one features the gold and silver medallists from Tokyo three years ago.

Plenty of atmosphere at the Place de la Concorde skate park for this.

Great Britain's equestrian team have been speaking on BBC One after missing out on a medal in the individual jumping final, but leaving the Olympics with a total of five medals, including two golds.

Ben Maher: "This team is amazing to be a part of. We're in a good era right now for show jumping. It was a great day in the team event. To have these guys working with me, we won because we came here as a team and we're going home with another gold medal."

Harry Charles: "It's like kind of a dream to come here. I think we knew we had a pretty strong team, maybe not everyone thought it, but we definitely knew we had a great team. On the day, we worked the best as a team and that's what wins you a gold medal in that event. To have seen these guys when I was younger with my dad up on the podium and then to be joining them, I can't thank everyone enough. My horse Romeo was sadly not able to go today, but he's in great shape and he's leaving here with a gold medal. I'm happy for him, his owner and the whole British equestrian team, I hope we did the country proud."

If Great Britain's Sky Brown makes you feel old, then wait till you hear about Chinese skateboarder Zheng Haohao.

At 11 years old, she is set to become the youngest athlete at Paris 2024 when she competes in the women's park preliminary round (from 11:30 BST). Born a day before the end of the London 2012 Games, Zheng will also become the youngest athlete ever to represent China.

Veteran English skateboarder Danny Wainwright has recently taken over as Zheng's coach and helped her make a late surge at the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai and Budapest to qualify for Paris 2024.

That means there is a 40-year age gap between the youngest and oldest skateboarders at the Games as 51-year-old Andy Macdonald is representing GB.

Brown, who became GB’s youngest Olympic medal winner when she won park bronze three years ago, has been passed fit to compete despite dislocating her shoulder last Monday. Fellow 16-year-old Lola Tambling is GB's other skateboarder in Paris and will also compete in the park prelims.
