    Goodness me, what a finish!

Emmanuel Wanyonyi has won the gold medal by 0.01 seconds! He was leading throughout the final lap but was so nearly caught by Marco Arop of Canada, only holding on on the final stride.

Kenya's Wanyonyi takes gold, Arop gets silver. Algeria's Djamel Sedjati, who was the world leader this year and favourite tonight, takes bronze.

GB's Max Burgin faded in the final 400m and finished 8th.

Not an expert on the Madison by any means, but that looked pretty deliberate by the Dutch rider. Will that lead to an enquiry?

    David, Bradford

Why are the Dutch not getting penalised for that? Looked dodgy to me

    Anon.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ollie Wood was concussed from that [crash].

He wouldn't be expecting it either. His body would be loose. He would be relaxed and then getting this massive hit - I really felt for him there.

USA win women's football goldpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 10 August

Brazil 0-1 USA - women's gold medal match

USA have done it! They have held off the Brazilians and reclaim the Olympic gold medal in women's football.

This is their fifth gold out of eight since women's football became an Olympic sport - but their first since London 2012.

Having crashed out of last summer's World Cup early, this is redemption for the States and a huge moment for Emma Hayes - a trophy in just her 10th game as USA manager.

Tom Cruise is among those on their feet to applaud the Olympic champions at Parc des Princes.

Whatever they had left in the tank, they dragged it out over the final 250m.

    That was sensational.

From the Portuguese, Italian and Danish riders.

It's Portugal's first gold medal at Paris 2024 and they sure did have to work for it.

You don't take gold in the madison over 200 laps if you haven't deserved it.

    Remarkable.
