I wonder if Brazil are being cautious when they push and gamble, as it allows USA the space to counter.

They may be thinking of being reserved and then on 82, 83 minutes they gamble.

Dame Laura Kenny yesterday called the madison "organised chaos".

    She's absolutely right.

It's also an immense display of fitness. To keep going at this speed, over 200 laps, is no mean feat.

What is the madison?published at 17:38 British Summer Time 10 August

    Track cycling - men's madison

If you have just joined and are wondering what is going on with all of these points in the madison, then here's a reminder of the explainer we posted earlier.

The madison is a relay race on the track, two riders compete per team over 200 laps with points awarded for an intermediary sprint every 10 laps.

While one rider races, the other slows down to rest around the top of the track, before swapping places with their team-mate by the means of a handsling back into the action.

The classification is decided on the total of points won at the end of the race, with double points awarded for the final sprint.

Hopefully, that clears it up for you!

Noah Williams added individual 10m platform bronze to the silver he won in the synchronised 10m platform with Tom Daley, and was talking to BBC Sport:

"I don’t think [it’s sunk it]. It’s literally a dream – I said that last time with synchro but individually winning a medal, doing it yourself is a whole other level and I don’t think it’s sunk in because I’m nowhere near as emotional as last time."

Was it an advantage going first? "Obviously nobody wants to qualify in 12th and sneak into the final but Jack in Rio did the same thing.

"When you’re first, I’m not focussed on anyone else, I just literally did what I had to do to get the medal."

What were you saying to yourself on the sixth dive? "I was basically saying ‘I don’t think I’ll get this chance again – basically it's now or never’, and luckily it was now."

Denmark win the 10th sprint of this madison final - 10 more to go.

The Danes also manage to gain 20 points for lapping the field so are propelled up to second and, currently, the only challengers to leaders Italy.

Team GB duo Ollie Wood and Mark Stewart, are in 10th and need a big second half of this 200 lap race.

Noah Williams earlier added a bronze medal to the silver medal he won with Tom Daley:

On joining Jack Laugher and Tom Daley as the only other british divers to win two medals in one Olympics:"I just got lucky. They’re a whole other level. Those two are the greatest of GB diving. Don’t get me wrong I’m so happy with how I’ve done and it’s a huge achievement but they are another class."

On Dave Jenkins (late coach):"I’m really glad I’m able to put what we’d worked on for seven years together today.

"A good day to do it on. I miss him so much ad I love him and he’s gone too early and I’m so glad I can do it for him."
