The big 4x100m freestyle relay finals are tonight with Team GB having quartets in both.

The men qualified third-fastest this morning, having rested their quickest 100m freestyler Matt Richards from the heat.

It was always going to be tough on someone and Alex Cohoon, who put in the second-fastest split this morning, is the one to miss out as Richards comes in for the big one.

Richards lines up with Tom Dean, Duncan Scott and Jacob Whittle.

There are a lot of sporting legends at the Paris Olympics and I just ran into Billie Jean King who was arriving to watch the tennis at Roland Garros. She was flanked by people carrying umbrellas for her but she still stopped for selfies in the rain!

Because of the rain making the outdoor courts unusable, a whole host of big names have been having a hit under the roof on Chatrier.

Naomi Osaka has just finished a short session and the Japan team gave the tennis balls they'd been using to a group of kids who had been sat watching in the stands, which was a lovely touch.

Currently Coco Gauff, who is set to play in the women's doubles with Jessica Pegula today, and Australia's Daria Saville are going through the motions.

The atmosphere is ramping up around the Stade de France in anticipation of the big one.

Little under an hour to go. Eek.

A jazzy brass band toots tunes and attracts some dad dancing under one stand, a hipster with a speaker on his back bangs out under another.

Lots of TV, film and cartoon stars, too. Spotted two Charlie Chaplins, Asterix, closely flanked by Obelix of course, the Teletubbies and several Where's Wallies.

There is a strong correlation between eye-catching fancy dress and slightly-inebriated staggers.

Punctures are a part of bike racing, that is just how it goes. Someone could come down in front of you and you are over the handlebars, it happens.

We have seen it time and time again, there are such fine margins at the top level of the sport. We know what a talent Josh Tarling is, he will put this behind him and he will be hungrier than ever to go for more success.

It's official - Great Britain have qualified for Monday's men's team final.

They were top after their sub-division but are now third after the two big favourites China and Japan put in strong performances in their session.

Just one more sub-division to go but GB cannot be pushed out of the top eight now.

They will be seeking just their second Olympic men's team medal after bronze in 2012.

Team GB Road cycling Josh Tarling speaking to BBC One: "The stars were miles apart today [they did not align]. It was a front puncture near the rim, I had no choice really but to make the change before that corner and then try my best."

On what went through his mind after the change: "A lot of swearing. There's not a lot I can do really. A bit of bad luck. We move onto the road race.

"I'm going to keep trying my best and we'll see."

    Hayley Simmonds
Commonwealth cycling bronze-medallist on BBC Radio 5 Live

That is heartbreaking for Josh Tarling... two seconds and it was that puncture, but that is cycling. It is such a cruel sport sometimes and Josh will be thinking about that for a while, I would imagine.

You have 32.5km of road and you could hit a tiny bit of glass that is on the road from one of the cafes or the bars, and that is it. That is your Olympic dream over for another four years.

But, for him, it is only the start. He is already a European champion, he has got many more Olympics in him, but it is harsh.

You can see the emotion now from Remco Evenepoel as he is realising the impact of what he has just achieved.

The pressure coming into the race, everyone telling you 'You're going to win, you're going to win,' is incredible, but you have to go out there and do it.

All it takes is one mistake for it to go wrong but when it does go right and you achieve it, it's overwhelming.

Remco Evenepoel backs up his win at the World Championships with Olympic gold.

And he does it with almost 15 seconds to spare. The Belgian is in tears as he crosses the finish line.

It's not to be for GB's Josh Tarling, who finishes fourth after picking up a puncture.

Filippo Ganna of Italy gets silver, while Belgium's Wout van Aert takes bronze.

Will it be enough for Tarling to get his hands on a medal? There's five riders remaining.

I think that puncture has cost Josh Tarling dearly here. Fantastic riding by him but Remco Evanepoel is fastest at the second checkpoint now, so it looks to be between Tarling and Filippo Gana for the bronze medal. That is likely what he is going for now as he would have to do something incredibly special to push into silver.

We have spoken about the top three favourites being way above the rest of the field, so Van Aert has really pulled something out of the bag in this race.

I just ventured out into the pouring rain, and spotted Josh Tarling’s family in the crowd huddled together just as the commentator here said he had a puncture.

His family instantly looked very concerned, understandably, hands over mouths as they - and we - hope for the very best for the Brit.

They await him flying down here towards the finish.
