Cornish Pirates have re-signed winger Robin Wedlake.

The 29-year-old has agreed a deal to to the end of the season, having left the club in the summer to join Championship champions Jersey Reds.

He scored 39 tries in 90 appearances for the Pirates before his move to the Channel Island side.

Following the collapse of the Reds in September, Wedlake has been playing for National One side Plymouth Albion but now steps back up to the second tier.

"Supporters will be pleased to hear that Robin has returned to the fold, as a clause in his contract with Albion enables him to sign for a higher-level club," Pirates joint-head coach Gavin Cattle told the club website. , external

"We could have brought Robin back in earlier, but in fair respect to Plymouth he wanted to play for them in a number of games.

"He knows the ropes and it should be a straightforward transition for a player who is a proven try-scorer and has been a big part of what we have done over the past few seasons."

Pirates have also had former scrum-half Tom Kessell - who is now backs coach at Camborne - training with them to provide emergency cover at nine.
