    Bingham 11-14 Jones

It's all falling apart for Stuart Bingham, who hits his break-off shot all wrong and goes in-off.

Jak Jones deposits the long red that's been left for him - but doesn't land on a colour so it's just a safety.

From the sublime to the ridiculous. Why has he not potted the green? Taken the cue ball past the pink and left the brown.

    I can't explain it.

We are probably seeing the reason why Stuart Bingham is ranked where he is now. He was one of the best players in the world, but he is ranked very low and we are seeing why.

He's playing some awful shots and making some really bad decisions.

Jak Jones mops up green, brown, blue and pink.

Three frames from the final, the Welshman.

JavelBleach: Bingham hits the odd wonder shot and then he misses the simplest pots to close out the frame and ends up losing it!

  5. 'He's gifted Jak the frame'published at 20:26 British Summer Time 4 May

    What has he done there?

Why didn't he just pot the green?! I think he was just being too careful - he should have potted it and give himself some shot on the brown.

He's gifted Jak Jones the frame. Stuart can't believe it, he's shaking his head.

Oh hang on, Stuart Bingham decides the pot on the green and position is too difficult and tries to lay a snooker - which he makes an utter mess of.

He's left it on a plate.

Half a chance for Stuart Bingham - and he knocks in a very tidy mid-distance red.

Tons of work to do still - but he dislodges the brown from the cushion in potting the final red.

A fantastic yellow with the rest and perfect position on the green down the other end of the table - an amazing shot richly deserving of the whoops of delight from the crowd.

Another half-hour-plus frame but whomever wins it will not care a jot.

Either Jak Jones will be within three of the winning line - or Stuart Bingham will be back within a frame of his opponent.

MHS: Kyren Wilson must be in pole position tomorrow, at least for the first session. Stuart could stay in it and maybe be 10-6 down but I feel Jak Jones could be 12-4 down after first day.

Jak Jones is turning the screw now on Stuart Bingham.

Superb long red this time from the Welshman, stretches his lead to 23.

And now he's going to put the green safe, on a cushion, just like the brown.

    Bingham 11-13 Jones

With those three reds in tough positions, Jones plays safe rather than potting a pink.

But he gets hugely lucky in not leaving a red when missing a long pot a couple of shots later.

    Bingham 11-13 Jones

Unlikely we'll be that late tonight, thankfully!

And Jak Jones will be hoping it's nowhere near. His break is up to 42 after a lovely pot on a red with the rest.

He leads by 22 - but still 51 on, and the remaining three reds are on the cushion.

The latest Crucible finish on record was in 1983 in a second-round contest between Cliff Thorburn and Terry Griffiths.

That one, which ended 13-12 to the Canadian, came to a conclusion at 03:51 BST, with the final session taking more than seven hours.

There was also one other pretty notable moment in this match of course, with Thorburn writing himself into the history books with the first 147 at the World Championship.

If Jak Jones wins the frame from this visit, it could prove pivotal.

    The reds are open beautifully.

Bingham looked devastated heading back to his chair, he covered his eyes with his hands as he sat down.

    Bingham 11-13 Jones

    Dennis Taylor
1985 world champion on BBC Two

That was what we call a twitch and he knows it.

Stuart didn't deliver the cue in a straight line there. He can't believe it. How important is that miss going to be.

  18. Postpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 11-13 Jones

Oh dear. The hard work was done.

And Stuart Bingham misses a red he'd pot 98% of the time, handing a golden chance to Jak Jones.

  19. Planting a seedpublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 11-13 Jones

Stuart Bingham takes on a jaw-dropping cut-back plant that leads to the Crucible crowd erupting when it goes in.

The reds fly everywhere - and the former champion lands perfectly on the blue.

Massive chance now to close within a frame of Jak Jones.

Once again, it's another protracted frame.

Stuart can't impose himself the way he would like to on this match.

Jak Jones is such a wonderful tactician, dictating the way the frames are played.
