The Crucible is one of those sporting events where it feels like you can really get close to your heroes.

After a pretty disappointing and protracted morning session the last thing Stuart Bingham probably felt like doing was stopping to sign autographs and take pictures.

But the 2015 champion hung around this afternoon and showed what a true gentleman he is.

No such error the second time from Bingham who, inkeeping with the sportsmanship we're used to seeing at Crucible, asked the referee to move the cue ball into a harder position than it had originally been re-placed.

The first points of the session come via a Stuart Bingham foul, completely missing a red after Jak Jones somewhat fortunately leaves him cueing very awkwardly over the brown in baulk.

Jak is playing his game and has got such a sound technique. He struggles in the short matches, the best of sevens and best of nines but at the Crucible he loves the long matches. He does not miss many easy balls.

Stuart lost two frames, missing easy blacks off the spot and Jak is not doing that. His safety game is creating chances for him but he is potting the pressure balls.

  7. Jones 'motivated' by social media criticismpublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 4 May

World Championship semi-finalist Jak Jones says criticism on social media only “motivates” him to perform even better.

The world number 44 has beaten Zhang Anda, Si Jiahui and Judd Trump on his way to the last four but has attracted negative comments for his style of play.

Jones, who is aiming to become the first qualifier to win the world title since Shaun Murphy in 2005, said: “I am not the first person to have it, every player gets it.

“I like seeing stuff like that as much as good things. It kind of motivates me.”

Australia’s 2010 world champion Neil Robertson told BBC Sport that Jones is among “the top five safety players in the world”, and “it is not his fault that he knocks other players out of their rhythm”.

Welshman Jak Jones comes out to his compatriots' Stereophonics' hit Dakota.

"Feel like the one, feel like the one." He probably does, leading 13-10.

But Stuart Bingham responds with 24k Magic by Bruno Mars. Will there be 24-carat magic in the air tonight?

  9. 'Bingham will feel he can win it'published at 19:06 British Summer Time 4 May

2005 world champion on BBC Two

To sneak out with just a three-frame deficit this morning has changed the complexion of the match. It's absolutely huge.

Stuart, especially with the way it finished, will feel he can win it.

If he gets on a roll, it could be carnage. If he can turn the screw and put the pressure on Jak Jones, the match could go anywhere.

  10. Can Jones get over the line?published at 19:04 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 10-13 Jones

Jak Jones resumes with a 13-10 lead over 2015 champion Stuart Bingham after a shortened third session of their World Championship semi-final.

Resuming at 8-8, Bingham took the first frame of Saturday morning, but Welsh qualifier Jones responded with three half-century breaks as he reeled off five consecutive frames.

Bingham rallied with a superb 104 break, but the protracted nature of the 21st frame in particular - which lasted over 50 minutes and saw both players take toilet breaks - meant only seven of eight scheduled frames were completed.

World number 44 Jones, who defeated Judd Trump in the quarter-finals, is aiming to become the lowest-ranked finalist since Shaun Murphy (then 48th) lifted the trophy in 2005.

    Bingham 10-13 Jones

    Dennis Taylor
1985 world champion speaking to BBC Sport

Stuart Bingham has to get off to a good start. Jak does not take a long time on shots, any criticism he gets there is unfounded really. He is just a good match-player, who brings his best.

Stuart was back to his best against Ronnie O'Sullivan but he has not reached those heights in this match yet. He will need to win this first mini-session and if he can this could go all the way.

World championship finalist Kyren Wilson on his family after son Bailey required surgery and his wife Sophie had a stroke: "With me not having the best of seasons, I've missed a couple of events.

"So we decided to go to Portugal and have an eight-day break, and leave the cue alone. It felt like me and the family needed it and I came here quite refreshed."

  16. 'Don't eat too much pizza!'published at 16:38 British Summer Time 4 May

    Result: Wilson 17-11 Gilbert

More from Kyren Wilson on BBC One: "Coming into this event, I didn't have the best of seasons and then all of a sudden everybody is saying I'm the favourite and I've got to handle that pressure.

"I'm quite aware of that but Dave had every right to be beating me as well. Dave's a classy cueist, hits the ball unbelievably well and I just had to try to stop him getting into his stride.

"It felt like I broke the back of the match yesterday and I was very focused on hitting home the advantage."

On whether he learned lessons from his 18-8 final defeat to Ronnie O'Sullivan in 2020: "Yeah, don't eat too much pizza and drink too many Peronis the night before!

"I woke up that morning so tired and the fire alarm went off in the hotel the morning of the final so I was up at 6am and I'd only had three hours sleep. I was absolutely shattered and it's hard enough playing him as it is."

Kyren Wilson claimed a comfortable 17-11 win over David Gilbert as he reached his second World Championship final at the Crucible Theatre.

Wilson, 32, laid the platform for his success with a clinical display on Friday evening when he opened up a 14-10 advantage, then continued in the same vein in Saturday’s concluding session.

While Gilbert took the first with a wonderful break of 70, Wilson - the only seed left in the tournament - punished his opponent's errors as he took the next two.

He sealed his victory with a break of 67 after Gilbert missed a red to the right corner on 49.

More from Kyren Wilson on BBC One after reaching his second world final: "I didn't even know what it was first to. I just kept playing.

"You lose what day it is. I've had lots of people helping me with a few things mentally.

"I've been working with a solutions therapist called Chris O'Connor, and it's only something we started before the World Championship, but he's been really helping me with the sleep. He's just been knocking me out basically.

"I slept eight and a half hours last night so God help me when I get home and I've got to deal with the kids again."
