    Wilson 17-11 Gilbert

David Gilbert, speaking to BBC One after his 17-11 defeat by Kyren Wilson, his second World Championship semi-final loss:

"It's been a great run - it was a very disappointing way to go out because I really believed I could win that game.

"And I had more than enough chances to do so. But good luck to Kyren.

"Nothing to feel too bad about, I just lost a game of snooker. I need to keep up the fitness and I just want to thank anyone who was in the crowd last night or today, the reception we got when we walked in felt very special and I'll always remember it.

"I'd love to get back in the top 16 - I miss it and I feel like I can be a top-16 player, and we'll see. I'll look forward to next season."

A great tournament for Gilbert, indeed - he beat reigning champion Luca Brecel on his way to the semis.

  4. Kyren Wilson into World finalpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 4 May
    Breaking

    Wilson 17-11 Gilbert

The blue goes down - and a celebratory fist-pump, and a kiss blown to his family up in the boxes.

Kyren Wilson - 2020 runner-up to Ronnie O'Sullivan - is into his second World Championship final.

David Gilbert kept pace with the world number 12 for the first two sessions of their semi-final but Wilson ultimately made fewer errors and kept calm when it mattered.

The last red is down and the blue with it.

Just the colours off the spots.

This is a great chance to close this match out. Kyren couldn't ask for a better situation.

Kyren's heart will be racing. It's just a matter of composing himself.

Kyren Wilson would dish these balls up in a heartbeat down the club.

He's level at 49-49 with just one red to go.

    And he develops it already.

It's all there for the taking now.

There is only one awkwardly placed red, on the cushion near the right centre pocket.

But Kyren Wilson is going to have a chance to develop that red in potting the other balls, at some stage.

    Bit unlucky, the 'Angry Farmer'.

Played a very good shot to disturb six reds in the middle of the table off two cushions from the blue. But he lands on nothing easy, misses a tricky red and Kyren Wilson returns to the table.

First red in, 40 points behind - but the reds are spread well enough to mean that deficit is very little indeed.

That's not the first time Kyren has missed a simple red to the corner pocket.

We asked what Dave Gilbert has left. Now's the time to see. Can he take us past the mid-session interval?

In these situations you just rely on your competitive instinct. Don't gift it to your opponent. Make sure he wins it.

Developing into a good chance for David Gilbert, this - through some good, positive shots.

Plenty of reds in the open after he went into the pack.

And, as soon as I typed that, Wilson misses the next red...

The Crucible crowd roar Dave Gilbert to the table in encouragement. They want to see this match go longer, of course.

Kyren Wilson leaves a long red sticking out from his break-off shot.

Dave Gilbert goes all-or-nothing, trying to float it in and stay on the black. But he misses the pot.

Wilson cuts it in and pots a fine black to follow - his first chance to clinch the match and a place in a second World Championship final.

  15. Just pride to play for?published at 15:50 British Summer Time 4 May

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC One

Dave was wobblng last night and the first frame was great today, but there are just too many errors now.

He's just not firing. Can he show a little bit of pride and take it to the mid-session interval?

  16. Gilbert's hundred habitpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 4 May

    Wilson 16-11 Gilbert

David Gilbert has made 10 century breaks at this year's World Championship, four more than the player with the next highest tally (Stuart Bingham - six).

That's pushed his career ton total up to 390 - which is still only enough for 18th place in the all-time century rankings.

How he'd love another one now - to take this semi-final past the mid-session interval.

    Wilson 16-11 Gilbert

David Gilbert is sat in his chair with a resigned look on his face - and Kyren Wilson makes sure of the frame with a delightful double on a red.

A poor error from David Gilbert who tries a thin safety off a red, misses it completely and goes into the pack of four instead, leaving one on a plate for Kyren Wilson.

It's Kyren Wilson playing the perfect stuff now though.

His lead is up to almost 50 in this frame.
