    Trump 12-10 Murphy

Shaun Murphy, though, puts all his eggs in one basket by attempting a very tough red to middle...

The basket can't take the strain, the eggs smash and Judd Trump has the formality of an easy couple of balls to finally clinch progress. All over.

    Trump 12-10 Murphy

    Wow!

Slightly stretching but still it's a fairly routine red that Judd Trump misses to the right corner pocket.

His advantage is 53 points with five reds left.

  3. Si edges aheadpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time

    Si 11-10 Woollaston

Much better from Si Jiahui after the interval.

He knocks in a 94 break to go two frames from victory.

  4. Trump on brink of victorypublished at 15:07 British Summer Time

    Trump 12-10 Murphy

Always the danger when your opponent needs only the one frame that any error can be decisive.

Shaun Murphy sat in his chair knowing that full well.

Judd Trump dispatches a testing pink with the rest as his break reaches 50 and he only needs a couple more reds...

    Trump 12-10 Murphy

Big chance for Judd Trump to stop this comeback in its tracks, though.

He's split the reds nicely and will expect to heavily punish that Murphy mistake.

Are we seeing a recovery for the ages from Shaun Murphy?

Luca Brecel recovered from being 14-5 down in his semi-final match against Si Jiahui at the 2023 World Snooker Championship, ultimately winning 17-15.

Also, on the 40th-anniversary of the legendary black-ball final in 1985 as Dennis Taylor defeated Steve Davis with 18.5m watching the post-midnight finish, it's worth saying Taylor was 8-0 down at the start of that match.

Judd Trump is always a crowd favourite but the audience getting well behind Shaun Murphy here - whoops of delight as he smashes in a long red followed by a mid-distance blue.

But a missed red follows - the first chink in his armour that Murphy has shown for about an hour and a half.

    John Parrott

It's starting to get a little bit uncomfortable for Judd in that chair.

He's thinking it should have all been over at 13-6 and now Shaun is right in his rear mirror.

Not back-to-back centuries as a red somehow stays out with the break on 99.

But Shaun Murphy has reeled off visits of 88, 72, 112 and now that 99 to win four frames running.

From 12-6 down, are we witnessing one of the great all-time Crucible comebacks?

    Dennis Taylor
1985 world champion on BBC iPlayer

I don't think Judd will be panicking just yet because the way he's been playing, he knows if he can get one chance, he can clinch the match.

But when is he going to get that chance the way Shaun Murphy is playing?

  12. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time

    Trump 12-9 Murphy

Murphy's in again in frame 22... another half-century and counting.

The commentators at pains to point out a very simple red that Judd Trump missed when the score was 12-6 - and how he's been punished since then.

The snooker gods don't forgive you, as they say.

Shaun is winning frames in one visit so the scoreboard is changing quicker.

He's playing some great stuff, hitting the ball great and if Judd makes mistakes, he's there to capitalise.

  15. 112 - and another frame for Murphypublished at 14:44 British Summer Time

    Trump 12-9 Murphy

It could have been a 134 for Shaun Murphy, but he missed the brown.

However, still a fantastic frame-winning visit of 112 and a third frame on the spin for the Magician. Can he conjure up one of the greatest of all snooker great escapes?

    Trump 12-8 Murphy

    Michael Emons

Shaun Murphy will get a mammoth £147,000 if he is to make a maximum 147 in this tournament.

Any player who does it twice in the UK Championship, Masters, Saudi Masters and World Championship this season will get a £147,000 bonus.

Murphy made a 147 break in his Masters semi-final win over Mark Allen back in January so another moment of perfection would be very profitable.

Judd Trump yesterday collected a £100,000 bonus when he reached the 100-century mark for the season.

Si Jiahui's body language is not good.

He should just play the balls not the player.

  19. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time

    Trump 12-8 Murphy

Shaun Murphy doing exactly what the BBC Two pundits have said, so far.

He's carried on where he left off before the interval, a wonderful break into the 60s and counting...

    Stephen Hendry

Don't make any unforced errors, don't miss anything easy and then you've got a chance of at least prolonging the match.

And maybe of doing something special.
