The crowd on Court Simonne Mathieu made it very clear towards the end of that third set that they were not ready for this match to end as they got behind Daniil Medvedev.

While it's not what Cameron Norrie wanted, I'm not sure I was either. It's been a lot of fun.

And, after two-and-a-half hours of action, we begin set four...

    Clutch stuff from Norrie.

Once the crowd simmer down after chanting Medvedev’s name at 0-30, the Brit hammers down three first serves to help get him back on track.

At deuce, the French fans serenade Medvedev again. They want a fourth set.

    Norrie certainly doesn’t.

You can't blame Gilles, to be honest.

That was quite the onslaught he was on the receiving end of from Daniil Medvedev.

That feels like a long time ago now, with the 11th seed dialled in, but Cameron Norrie continues to operate at a really high level and serves his way to 4-4 - within two games of the match.

Medvedev’s coach Gilles Cervara has reappeared. He hadn’t left court though.

When his player was letting off steam earlier, the Frenchman slid down his seat and you could barely see him above the wall behind the baseline.

He was like Homer Simpson slinking back into the hedge.

Now Medvedev has improved - and he’s not in the firing line - Cervara has stuck his head above the parapet.

    Medvedev 5-7 3-6 3-2 Norrie*

Unbelievable from Daniil Medvedev. Cameron Norrie could hardly have done any more there and slams a forehand into the back of the court as he charges forward - but somehow Medvedev finds a response and drifts a backhand beyond the Briton at the net. What a point.

It helps the 11th seed to the first couple of break points of the set.

You’d think it was Manchester winter weather with the way folk are wrapped up. It’s 16C!

The rain clouds are moving in though, so perhaps the majority are much more sensible than I am with their jackets. We’ve felt a few spots already.

Cam Norrie will be hoping for get victory wrapped up before any potential delays caused by downpours.

  16. Medvedev holds servepublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 27 May

    Medvedev 5-7 3-6 3-2 Norrie*

As much as this has felt about Daniil Medvedev's internal battles, there should be no way back if Cameron Norrie can maintain the level he has shown throughout much of this contest.

But Medvedev is playing much more consistently here and puts together an impressive hold to 15 to edge back in front in the third set.

I think something has happened to Daniil Medvedev's nail, but I don't think he's played any shots where he has put his hand close to the clay.

It does look sore. I think his nail is cut so short that it is has actually gone beyond the nail bed and it has kind of split the skin underneath.

That's the forefinger on his racquet-playing hand as well...

  18. Norrie holds servepublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 27 May

    *Medvedev 5-7 3-6 2-2 Norrie

Daniil Medvedev needs to take a medical timeout to get his finger bandaged up.

Ahead in what is a must-win third set for the Russian, it's a moment of calm before he tries to psych himself up for what would be an incredible fightback.

The shouting has paused for the time being and he looks completely focused on his significant task - but he can't prevent Cameron Norrie coasting to a hold to love to restore parity at 2-2.

I think Daniil Medvedev is still pretty angry, he is still pretty wound up by this situation.

When you're playing against someone you have beaten four times out of four and you find yourself two sets down, you start wondering what on earth is going on out there.

His forehand isn't going that well in this match. It has just been landing so short and it just hasn't been working for him at all.

  20. Medvedev holds servepublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 27 May

    Medvedev 5-7 3-6 2-1 Norrie*

A big miss on the forehand by Daniil Medvedev brings Cameron Norrie to deuce, but the 11th seed holds his ground at the net to volley past the Briton.

A lovely touch at the net from Medvedev then ensures he gets out of trouble. His level has certainly improved - but will it be too little, too late?
