From winning the first women’s Queen’s tournament in more than 50 years to playing on the smaller outside courts at Wimbledon.

Tatjana Maria has enjoyed a brilliant build up the grass court Grand Slam with her slice-heavy game suited to the surface here.

But it’s a bit of a change for the German with huge crowds piling in to watch her on the main court at Queen’s to scrabbling to get a look at her on court 15 here at SW19.

With a game suited for grass could she go far here?

Alex de Minaur looks to already have one foot in the second round after opening up a 6-5 6-2 advantage over Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena on Court 18.

The pair are already into the third set there, having stepped out onto court just one hour and 28 minutes ago.

Elsewhere, 16th seed Daria Kasatkina has opened up a firm advantage over Colombia's Emiliana Arango on Court 14. The Australian took the first set 7-5 and currently leads 5-2 in the second set.

Lorenzo Musetti has also just stepped onto Court Two to get his Wimbledon bid underway. The Italian seventh seed is going head-to-head with Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili in this year's first round.

Some good serving by Heather Watson as she hangs in there, but it feels like a matter of time before her opponent takes this second set.

The beauty of these outside courts is how close to the action you are. The downside is a stray shot has come a little too close to comfort at times while I've been writing on my laptop.

  15. Watson holdspublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Tauson 2-6 5-4 Watson

Heather Watson defends and gets to deuce.

  17. 'Dream come true'published at 12:24 British Summer Time 1 July

    Cocciaretto 6-2 6-3 Pegula

Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto speaks after beating world number three Jessica Pegula: "To play here in such an unbelievable tournament and such an unbelievable stadium is a dream come true for me. I was so pumped to play Wimbledon this year, I couldn't wait until the match started because I was practicing really hard to do the best that I can today.

"I played a really great champion, she's an unbelievable player, she's a great example for all of us. It was an unbelievable match. Thanks to the team, thanks for the support. Without them I couldn't stay here today so thank you very much."

On her level: "I played with a player like her before, Iga [Siwatek], Aryna [Sabalenka], all of those players that you have to do the best you can on the court with the little chance they give you. I tried to be more aggressive. I had to go for it and do my best. I think I did a great job today and I am super happy about that.

On her last 12 months: "I had a lot of stops. I was sick for a month and a half and I couldn't play here so that's why I was so pumped to play because I think it is the best tournament. Grass is always special to play. I don't think too much about my ranking. The journey of tennis is long, you have to adapt, you have to enjoy. You have to accept the life."

After watching Alex de Minaur take charge of the second set, and posing for a quick photo with a fan, Katie Boulter takes a break from the court 18 sun trap in the knowledge her fiancé is well on track to reach round two.

It’s a double break to the good now for De Minaur and the men’s 11th seed will be a very happy man indeed if he can settle this efficiently in straight sets as the temperature continues to rise.

Is this even that hot for an Aussie? It’s certainly hard work for us Brits just to watch.

An ace seals a hold to 15 and puts Tauson within a game of taking the second set.

  20. Game and second setpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Monday 4-6 4-6 Paul

Tommy Paul takes the second set.

In the end, it was a carbon copy of the first set with the American breaking once and not allowing Johannus Monday a look in after that.
