Summary

  1. 'Andreeva covering the net well'published at 13:57 British Summer Time 5 July

    Andreeva 6-1 2-1 Baptiste*

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC TV

As soon as Mirra Andreeva finds her way to the net she just doesn't seem phased whether it goes straight at her or just to the side, she has been covering the net pretty well out here.

  2. Andreeva holdspublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 5 July

    Andreeva 6-1 2-1 Baptiste*

Mirra Andreeva squeaks through another service game.

Hailey Baptiste did well to fight back from 40-0 down to apply some pressure at deuce, but after two deuce-points the American hits a forehand return long and then is completely wrong-footed by the Russian.

A little bit clumsy from Baptiste at the end there, she went close to getting the break.

  3. Sinner holdspublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 5 July

    Sinner 3-0 Martinez*

Jannik Sinner moves up to 3-0 within 10 minutes.

Some going, even by the Italian's standards.

  4. 'A lightweight playing a heavyweight'published at 13:53 British Summer Time 5 July

    *Sinner 2-0 Martinez

    Greg Rusedski
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Sinner gets so low on the ground, he is getting down with his legs and keeping his legs so balanced. He is transitioning much better and in my opinion, that will allow him to make his first Wimbledon final.

Martinez's serve technique is not good, there is a hitch in it. It feels like there is a heavyweight boxer playing against a lightweight.

  5. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 5 July

One man shouts encouragement to Pedro Martinez before he steps up to serve at 0-30 down, and the rest of the crowd get behind him with supportive applause.

    It’s not enough, though.

Jannik Sinner has never lost to an opponent ranked as low as Martinez at Wimbledon. Martinez has never beaten a top-five player.

It looks as though this could be a tough day at the office for the Spaniard.

  6. 'Martinez will be nervous'published at 13:51 British Summer Time 5 July

Martinez will be nervous coming on to this court. He needs to get some confidence in him early on. If you slice a lot against Sinner, he is too quick and will have you moving all across the court. That is not what Martinez wants.

Martinez's first serve is not quick enough. He has had some trouble with his shoulder and sometimes he takes a while to get going.

  7. Sinner breakspublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 5 July

    *Sinner 2-0 Martinez

It's a brutal start for Pedro Martinez.

The Spaniard hasn't settled yet, already missing shots that he wouldn't in normal circumstances.

Jannik Sinner sensed an opportunity and just completely smothered Martinez to earn the break.

  8. Baptiste holdspublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 5 July

    *Andreeva 6-1 1-1 Baptiste

That's more like it, Hailey Baptiste!

The American hits her first ace of the match for 40-0 and some strong shots from the back of the court help her to see out a 40-30 service hold.

That's just what she needed. Can she gather some momentum now?

At Wimbledon, it's raining. Reading the updates and drinking Pimm's. Rather be at the cricket.

  10. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 5 July

    Tauson 4-4 Rybakina*

Two hours after the match was suspended we are closing in on the resumption of play on court two.

11th Elena Rybakina will be on serve against 23rd seed Clara Tauson back when they get under way in a few moments following a brief warm-up.

  11. Andreeva holdspublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 5 July

    Andreeva 6-1 1-0 Baptiste*

Mirra Andreeva secures another service hold as another Hailey Baptiste forehand flies long.

Baptiste is making far too many errors from the back of the court at the minute. She usually has such good command of the baseline, but she is clearly struggling to go toe-to-toe with Andreeva in the baseline exchanges.

  12. Sinner holdspublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 5 July

    Sinner 1-0 Martinez*

Emphatic start from Jannik Sinner, who holds to 15 to get his nose in front in the first set.

It's Pedro Martinez's first time on Centre. Hard to imagine just how nervous he is right now.

  13. Sinner to servepublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 5 July

    *Sinner 0-0 Martinez

Number one seed Jannik Sinner will get us under way on Centre Court.

    Enjoy, won't you?

  14. 'Andreeva moving wonderfully'published at 13:43 British Summer Time 5 July

    *Andreeva 6-1 0-0 Baptiste

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Andreeva has been moving wonderfully. It's hard to know what Baptiste can do. She needs to move forward more and play out of her comfort zone to turn this one around.

  15. Sporting royalty watching on Centre Courtpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 5 July

  16. Sporting stars turn out for Sinner-Martinezpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 5 July

I'm not going to lie, it was pretty difficult to keep up with the sheer amount of sporting royalty on offer on Centre Court there.

    Among them;

    • Sir Ian Botham

I can confirm there was a massive Mexican wave when the covers came off. It created quite the excitement for the spectators!

    Thanks again, Dylan.

  18. Game and first set - Andreevapublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 5 July

    *Andreeva 6-1 0-0 Baptiste

    Mirra AndreevaImage source, Getty Images

Mirra Andreeva seals the first set with a cross-court backhand!

The 18-year-old is looking exceptionally comfortable out on court one. She is moving well, covering a lot of ground and picking out the right moments to strike.

Hailey Baptiste has a lot to think about, as she heads back to her bench. Things are looking very one-sided at the moment.

  19. 'There have been so many upsets'published at 13:39 British Summer Time 5 July

    Sinner v Martinez

World number one Jannik Sinner will be keen to avoid becoming the latest victim of a giant-killing against Pedro Martinez. "Every opponent is very difficult," said Sinner."Third round matches in Grand Slams are always special. We saw there have been so many upsets this tournament so we will try to stay focused and raise our level."

If you're Jannik Sinner, you couldn't have wished for a better start to the tournament.

The Italian has lost only 12 games in his two matches so far and is yet to have his serve broken.

His opponent today - Pedro Martinez - has already matched his best ever run in SW19 by reaching the last 32.
