Jack Draper staying in his chair at the end of the second set surprised me, I'll be honest.

You would have thought he'd be keen for a break and a long look in the mirror.

That's helped him before - notably in his Indian Wells semi-final against Carlos Alcaraz.

After Alcaraz levelled the three-set match with a bagel, Draper went off for a pep talk and it worked.

  2. Swiatek keeping good companypublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 3 July

    Swiatek 5-7 6-2 6-1 McNally

Iga Swiatek is the third player this century to reach the third round for 22+ consecutive women’s singles Grand Slam appearances after Amelie Mauresmo and Serena Williams.

Alongside plenty of action in the singles, there have been lots of ladies' doubles matches in play at SW19 with first-round matches under way.

British duo Hannah Klugman and Mika Stojsavljevic were beaten in straight sets by eighth seeds Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova. The unseeded pairing were out on court for just 59 minutes in the 6-2 6-2 loss.

Fellow Briton Olivia Nicholls and Slovakian partner Tereza Mihalikova were also knocked out of the first round in straight sets. The ninth seeds just couldn't get things going on court nine, with opponents Anna Siskova and Kamilla Rakhimova taking the 6-4 6-1 win.

A slow start by Iga Swiatek was followed by around an hour of almost unstoppable tennis. Play like she did from the second set onwards and she's a contender to go the distance here.

Caty McNally may have lost but this was still an impressive display by the American. She battled hard - including in that final game - and hit some great shots but Swiatek was just too good once she got going.

Lots of appreciation for both players being shown here.

  5. Draper holds at start of third setpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 3 July

    Draper 4-6 3-6 1-0 Cilic*

Jack Draper's fans will hope this is the confidence boost he needs as he bids to find a way back into this match.

He races into a 40-0 lead and gets on the scoreboard in set three soon afterwards.

"Small steps," says Andrew Cotter on TV commentary. Absolutely correct, that has to be the approach for the Briton.

  6. 'Quite the fightback from Swiatek'published at 18:20 British Summer Time 3 July

That was quite the fightback from Iga Swiatek.

Caty McNally played a spectacular match and hopefully that will set her up for the rest of the year with confidence.

Away from the drama unfolding on Court One for world number four and British number one Jack Draper, there is plenty of action around the courts in the men's singles.

Former Queen's champion and 13th seed Tommy Paul looked to be cruising after winning his opening set 6-1, but took a fall and had the physio out for an ankle injury before losing the second set 7-5 to Sebastian Ofner.

Czech Tomas Machac also had the physio out for what looked to be a wrist issue and, after being 2-1 up in sets, now finds himself in a deciding set with world 192 August Holmgren.

In an all-American contest on court 16, Brandon Nakashima won the first two sets against Reilly Opelka but lost the third on a tie-break, however, the 29th seed has managed to come through in four sets.

Spaniard Pedro Martinez is two sets and a break up on Argentine Mariano Navone, while Italy's Lorenzo Sonego won the first set comfortably against Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili.

Over on court 18, 38-year-old Gael Monfils is under way against Hungary's Marton Fucsovics.

Game, set and match - Swiatekpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 3 July

    Swiatek 5-7 6-2 6-1 McNally

Iga Swiatek wraps up the win with an ace and is into the third round at Wimbledon.

The former world number one will be hugely frustrated by the way that first set played out but a fine response to drop just three games across the following two.

A wave of encouragement headed in the direction of Jack Draper as he prepared to receive.

The British crowd knew their man needed them.

    It didn't help, though.

Draper will now have to do something he has never ever done in his professional career - win a match from two sets down.

  10. Match point Swiatekpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Swiatek 5-7 6-2 5-1 McNally

Iga Swiatek tries to get over the top of the ball with her forehand return but it clips the frame of the racquet and ends up in the crowd.

Caty McNally has a third break point but Swiatek attacks again with a body serve and it works in her favour.

The pair engage in a rally until McNally's forehand is too heavy.

  11. Game and second set - Cilicpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Draper 4-6 3-6 0-0 Cilic

That's a great start to the game for Jack Draper, hitting a backhand for a winner, but Marin Cilic is straight back at him.

Two set points for the 36-year-old - he serves out wide, Draper goes long with the return.

The proverbial mountain to climb for the world number four.

  12. Match point Swiatekpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Swiatek 5-7 6-2 5-1 McNally

Iga Swiatek dials up the aggression to defend this time round and the Caty McNally's return goes long.

    Ah.

Match point for Swiatek as McNally can't adjust to return the serve.

  13. Second break point McNallypublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Swiatek 5-7 6-2 5-1 McNally

Caty McNally goes big with a sweeping forehand and it's millimeters wide of the paint.

But the American comes on strong again and has a second break point.

  14. Draper holdspublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 3 July

    Draper 4-6 3-5 Cilic*

Jack Draper holds serve and at least will ask the question of Marin Cilic.

Will the Croat move two sets up?

  15. Break point McNallypublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Swiatek 5-7 6-2 5-1 McNally

Caty McNally is sent chasing the full width of the baseline on multiple occasions before eventually failing to get a forehand back over the net.

McNally does not want to leave Centre Court just yet.

The American gets break point and the crowd are loving it.

    *Draper 4-6 2-5 Cilic

    Jonathan Jurejko

More food for thought for Jack Draper as he sits on his chair at the change of ends.

The stare into space and a gentle tremor of the left leg does not signal the injection of energy which he needs.

Draper and the Court One crowd are flat at the moment.

If Caty McNally does go on to lose this, it would still give her so much confidence.

I just let out an audible "ohhh" as Marin Cilic hit an inside-out forehand which Jack Draper got nowhere near. Fantastic, one of the shots of the match so far.

Cilic follows that with an ace and is one game away from a two-set lead.

  19. McNally holdspublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Swiatek 5-7 6-2 5-1 McNally

Iga Swiatek will have to wait a few moments longer to have her place in round three confirmed.

Caty McNally gets a hold to 15 to win her first game of the deciding set.

Swiatek to serve for the match.

  20. Postpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 3 July

    Swiatek 5-7 6-2 5-0 McNally*

Iga Swiatek has reached at least the quarter-finals during four of her last five appearances at Grand Slam events - winning one, reaching two semi-finals and one quarter-final.
