It's kind of as you were between Sinner and Shelton.

Both men are still dominant on serve, although Shelton is having more joy in his return games than he was.

The American is making more returns - 77% in this set compared to 62% in the first - and crucially getting more on top of Sinner's second serve.

    But... he's still not broken.

The idea was good there from Ben Shelton to mix it up but when he got the chance to flatten out the ball he overcooked it, but just trying to change the rhythm a little bit, he's not getting any luck going toe-to-toe with him.

He responds by mullering a backhand down the line which Ben Shelton can only return into the net and lets out a "come on".

Shelton fires long as Sinner converts his second advantage to hold serve.

Speed, movement and a variety of shots at his disposal are Flavio Cobolli's strengths.

He showcases that as he chases down a drop shot.

But he's up against one of the best returners in the game who has also got pretty decent movement.

Jannik Sinner takes a 0-15 lead with an elegant cross-court backhand.

The following point, concern spreads around Court One as the Italian clutches his elbow after sticking his racquet on a monstrous serve. He seems ok for the time being but it's something to keep an eye on.

Ben Shelton closes out a hold to 15 with a textbook serve and volley.

There's a loud cracking sound when Flavio Cobolli makes contact with the ball. He doesn't half give it a rip.

Every time Jannik Sinner and Ben Shelton engage in a baseline rally, it's the Italian who is on the front foot, dictating where the next shot is going and when he's going to make his net approach.

Shelton tries to hit the fluff off the ball with a huge forehand at 40-0 and misses the baseline by several feet. Sinner is looking serene.

Italian player Fabio Fognini announced his retirement today from professional tennis. He gave us a memorable first-round five-setter against Carlos Alcaraz on day one.

He has said he will be sticking around to watch this match as his compatriot takes on 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic.

Flavio Cobolli cites Fognini as one of his biggest idols.

    *Cobolli 2-3 Djokovic

Whereas Flavio Cobolli doesn't take too much time between service points, Novak Djokovic is much more measured and likes to take his time a bit more.

Cobolli smacks a cross-court forehand return winner for 15-30 and gives Djokovic a reminder that he'll have to have his serving boots on if he's going to have a chance of getting through to the last four.

Djokovic finds some quality when he has to, as he has done so often in his career. He escapes with a hold thanks to two aces and an easy put-away at the net.

"Too much to the backhand" is the pre-game advice from Shelton senior, encouraging his son to attack Jannik Sinner's forehand.

Sinner serves up his first double fault of the match for 15-all but quickly takes back control, first forcing an error from Shelton in a lengthy baseline rally and then nailing an ace down the T.

Shelton doesn't seem to have any answer to the Italian when they start exchanging groundstrokes.
