"Let's go Frances, you've gotten into his head."

That's what a man behind me has just called out.

It feels true as Carlos Alcaraz skies a ball into the stands.

For Carlos Alcaraz fans, this is looking pretty tricky.

Frances Tiafoe has really kept that concentration, there haven't been too many dips.

Alcaraz is serving to stay in the third set and he's looking a little bit frustrated.

    Excellent from Frances Tiafoe.

He threatened to let Carlos Alcaraz back in at 30-30 but positioned himself superbly at the net to cut off the third seed's passing shot and then hammered down a big serve to seal the hold.

Alcaraz will now serve to keep the set going.

It's impressive that Tiafoe has not gone away. He has not let his body language or emotional side affect him after losing the second set.

At the same time, for Alcaraz, if the ball goes over your head, go around it and try to play a forehand or backhand. The between the legs is not going to work at all.

Carlos Alcaraz goes for an audacious between the legs lob and someone in the crowd shouts "tweener" before it has time to land.

A clenched fist from Frances Tiafoe, who gets the break and swaggers confidently to his chair.

Carlos Alcaraz will be kicking himself.

He really needs to put that game to the very back of his mind.

The execution wasn't there and there were a couple of poor shot selections.

Credit where credit is due, Frances Tiafoe really has done a good job.

  9. Tiafoe breakspublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 5 July

Frances Tiafoe breaks first in the third set.

He wins a superb point early in the game with both players racing from one side of the court to the other at the net before an unforced error from Carlos Alcaraz.

Another great point follows at break point but Tiafoe gets the better of the exchange at the net and Alcaraz's attempted tweener lob is long.

What a match we've got on our hands here!

I think that’s the general book on Tiafoe, if opponents can get him moving out wide on the forehand he tends to go for the spectacular but it’s not always easy to piece that together.
