    Carballes Baena 2-6 1-1 Zverev*

Roberto Carballes Baena challenges a 131mph serve from Alexander Zverev that zips past him.

Hawk-Eye shows that it was very clearly in and the Spaniard allows himself a smile. It's not the worst challenge we've seen so far but it's up there.

Carballes Baena did manage to hold serve to start the second set but Zverev sends it straight back to him with an ace securing a hold to love.

Clinical I think is the best way to describe that opening set.

Once Alexander Zverev got the feel of Roberto Carballes Baena, he was all over him. Monster serving towards the end.

  7. Game and first set - Zverevpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 2 July

    *Carballes Baena 2-6 Zverev

Alexander Zverev holds to love, finishing with an ace to close out the first set in style.

Absolutely clinical from the fourth seed so far. He's got 67% of his first serves in and won 92% of points when he's done so.

Add in that he has quickly got the measure of Roberto Carballes Baena's serve and it has been very one-sided to this point.

  8. Players complain about drizzlepublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 2 July

    Jubb 6-1 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 4-3 Seyboth Wild*

Moisture on the court and the balls are unnerving both players.

The umpire is making a phone call and the umbrellas are going up.

This could take all day this one.

  9. Postpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kopriva 1-1 Djokovic*

That will be a massive boost for Vit Kopriva as he holds his serve to 30 to get an early game on the board after holding his own in a few lengthy rallies.

  10. Zverev will serve for the first setpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 2 July

    Carballes Baena 2-5 Zverev*

Alexander Zverev is closing in on the first set now - and in double quick time.

The French Open finalist has been relentless and when Roberto Carballes Baena's backhand drifts long, Zverev has his second break.

He'll serve for the set, aided by new balls.

  11. Jubb holds firmpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 2 July

    Jubb 6-1 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 4-3 Seyboth Wild*

That was a long game, close to 10 minutes.

It's defiant play from Paul Jubb. Seybold Wild brought us to deuce multiple times but his shot into the net got Jubb out of jail.

    A great watch.

While searching for a better view, I was distracted by the striking Louis Vuitton outfit a man had on.

At second glance, I thought: “I recognise those butterfly tattoos!”

Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk is putting Ukraine’s departure from Euro 2024 out of his mind with a spot of tennis.

  15. Unwanted landmark for Vondrousovapublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 2 July

    Bouzas Maneiro 6-4 6-2 Vondrousova

Defending Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova joined Steffi Graf in the history books after she lost in straight sets to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro to suffer a shock first-round exit.

Vondrousova was a surprise winner at the All England Club last year but struggled physically as she tasted 6-4 6-2 defeat inside 67 minutes.

It made Vondrousova only the second defending women's Wimbledon champion to lose in the first round after Graf did in 1994 to Lori McNeil.

Prior to her 2023 success, Vondrousova had only won one main-draw match in SW19 and arrived in the capital after an injury scare in Berlin two weeks ago.

Billy Harris did what he could to hold him off but it's Jaume Munar of Spain who advances to the second round.

The Brit got it back to 30-all as he tried to get the break he needed to stay in the match but world number 63 Munar has been strong on serve all match and gets himself over the line.

Alexander Zverev has been making all the running so far on Court One and now he has the break to show for it.

The German gains the advantage when Roberto Carballes Baena goes long and then holds to love to consolidate it.

An impressive start from the fourth seed.

    Kopriva v Djokovic

    Alan Jewell
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

It feels slightly odd to see Novak Djokovic emerge just after 15:00 BST on the first Tuesday, rather than what has become his customary slot of opening play on Centre Court on day one as the defending men's champion.

Despite it being less than a month since his knee operation, the 37-year-old Serb has made clear he is feeling good and has his eyes on matching Roger Federer's record of eight men's titles.

Let's see how that knee holds up under competition.

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro reaches the second round after beating defending champion Marketa Vondrousova:

On the win: "Now I’m really happy. This is one of the most important moments of my life, in my career here on this court, this is amazing.

"The atmosphere here, the tournament is the most beautiful tournament I ever played in my life so thank you so much to everyone who came here today to watch."

Where did this performance come from today? "I don’t know. I was just thinking about enjoying the moment and try to play Marketa. She’s one of the best players in the world. She won last year here. I had no pressure, enjoy the moment, enjoy the tournament and just trying to be free-playing and I did it."

Did you have any nerves at all? "I’m surprised with myself, honestly. At the beginning I was a little bit nervous but then since the first game the atmosphere was so nice and I was comfortable here, like I was at home – I don’t know why because it was my first time (n Centre Court)."

Billy Harris is clinging on by his fingernails now - but he is still clinging on!

With Spain's Jaume Munar really ramping up the pressure, Harris grits his teeth and manages to ward off three match points before eventually securing the hold.

Now it's just the small matter of breaking Munar to extend the match...
