A 33-minute first set and it felt like about half of it was taken up by the fourth game. Once Novak Djokovic broke serve at the sixth attempt, Vit Kopriva didn't get another look in. We could be set for another Djokovic clinic. The defending women's champion may be a goner but the Serb is looking secure.

Former British tennis player on BBC TV

Zverev’s forehand is almost perfect and we saw the very best of it in the last game and last point. Its where he’s placing it, and the positions he is putting his opponent in.

That’s encouraging for Zverev because that was the wing he was struggling with the most.

  5. Double break for Djokovicpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kopriva 1-5 Djokovic*

Novak Djokovic gets a double break after breaking the Kopriva serve to love. The Czech may have thought he had a chance today with his opponent just coming back from knee surgery. But Djokovic is storming through the set and now serving to take it.

    Carballes Baena 2-6 2-3 Zverev*

    Too good from Alexander Zverev.

He and Roberto Carballes Baena are trading forehands from the baseline, but Zverev decides enough is enough.

It's another big forehand, right out of the screws and clipping the line with Carballes Baena left helpless.

That sets the tone for the game and the world number three breaks to 15 after another fabulous rally.

    *Kopriva 1-4 Djokovic

A hold to love from Djokovic, with Kopriva unable to make any sort of dent in the Serb's serve. Djokovic looking in control. Kopriva fighting with everything he has got, but he is just being outclassed at the moment though.

  9. 'I wasn't moving as well as I'd like'published at 15:40 British Summer Time 2 July

    Jonathan Jurejko

More from Andy Murray on his decision to pull out of the Wimbledon singles: "It's extremely disappointing I wasn't able to play.

"But where I am at 10 days after the operation, in comparison to where I was told I'd be, and where my expectations were, is incredible really.

"It wasn't a clear-cut decision on the singles. I obviously thought long and hard about it.

"I practised a few sets of singles and did well - I certainly wasn't moving as I'd like but was able to be competitive.

"It was just whether or not I'd be comfortable going out there and not feeling I was able to give 100%.

"The doubles is a slightly different game in terms of the physicality and I'm looking forward to that."

  10. 'Strong footwork from Djokovic'published at 15:40 British Summer Time 2 July

    Marion Bartoli
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Usually, when you have some knee pain, you are trying to move your centre of gravity a little higher when you are moving your legs.

When I look at Djokovic's movement, he stays down and very low like we have seen him do over the past 15 to 20 years.

Throughout most of the play, he is quite strong on the footwork.

It's been a good start for the seven-time champion with no visible sign of discomfort. The knee certainly was well tested in that lengthy fourth game.

It's the game that will never end. It's a seventh deuce after Kopriva, trying to save a fifth break point, edges out Djokovic in a 17-shot rally, with the Serb going wide with a cross-court attempt.

But now here comes break point chance number six.

  14. 'Zverev very attack-minded right now'published at 15:37 British Summer Time 2 July

    Carballes Baena 2-6 2-1 Zverev*

    Arvind Parmar
Former British tennis player on BBC TV

I loved Zverev’s move forward, good proactive play. That shows you someone that is very attack minded, right now.

The challenge for Zverev is usually the height of the ball, which comes in very low but he’s not having any issues today.

  15. Postpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 2 July

    Carballes Baena 2-6 2-1 Zverev*

From 40-15 down, Alexander Zverev brings it back to deuce with a crisp forehand followed by a lovely backhand past the advancing Roberto Carballes Baena.

Zverev sees a break point come and go and, at the third time of asking, Carballes Baena is able to close it out.

It stays on serve at the change of ends.

Vit Kopriva has just faced his first break point, and seen it off in lovely fashion with a beautifully-weighted drop shot. But Djokovic does what he does and quickly earns a second chance. Break point.

  20. Not playing singles is 'right decision' - Murraypublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 2 July

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

After practice, Andy Murray stopped to talk to reporters for a few minutes about his decision to withdraw from the singles.

The two-time champion says it is the "right decision" and one he made this morning after "wanting to sleep on it".

"I told my team and my family that I didn't think I'd play based on how I felt yesterday. I practised pretty well and was playing pretty good but I was just not happy about how my leg was feeling.

"I wanted to sleep on it and make sure I was happy with the decision and also give myself the chance when I woke up this morning to see if it felt much better.

"I ran around a bit at home this morning when I got up - it wasn't where I wanted it to be unfortunately.

"It's probably a few days too soon but I'm proud I worked extremely hard to give myself a chance to play. It's the right decision."
