Raducanu’s second serve is lacking punch, perhaps exacerbated by the back issue, and Wang is punishing it.

The sixth game saw the Briton win her first point on second serve in the match so far.

Emma Raducanu is certainly being much more vocal now as she tries to psych herself up for this push for a hold.

Things are definitely looking more positive for Emma Raducanu now - she is showing no sign of not changing direction or not really running after things.

She is competing well at the back and her movement has looked a lot less hampered in these last couple of games. A really good few games to get under her belt.

    Raducanu 2-2 Wang*

There haven't been obvious signs of Emma Raducanu's back issue limiting her movement, and generally she has served well so far.

And here she comes again, attacking Wang Xinyu's serve to set up two break points!

Raducanu looks like she’s struggling a little bit for energy.

At the changeover she stares anxiously towards her team, then gulps down half a banana to provide a boost.

When she walks to the baseline in front of me, there is a clear wince as she collects the balls.

But the carbs/potassium intake seems to be helping already as she holds.

  8. 'Raducanu is trying to assess her back issue while on court'published at 10:36 British Summer Time 26 May

This is strange because even when Emma Raducanu is coming forward, she just seems to lack that movement that we are so used to seeing from her.

It looks like she is trying to assess her back issue while on court. She looks to be pushing it a little bit and then she isn't running for a few things.

So I think she is trying to work out how she feels physically in her own head. Something is not 100% here, we're not used to seeing her move like this and it definitely doesn't look right.

Terrific serving from Emma Raducanu ensures she asserts herself in this latest game, a couple of bullets - mixing her placement on both - take her to 40-0 before she nets at the end of a lengthy rally.

But that's a great hold of serve for the Briton.

Fans are queuing at the top of the stands waiting to see if a spare seat reveals itself. They're unlikely to have much luck.

No shortage of support for Emma Raducanu too, with a fair few British flags on show. Can the former US Open champion get up and running on serve?

Now it's Wang Xinyu who appears to be in the ascendancy.

The Chinese 23-year-old takes charge on serve and reaches 40-0, before Emma Raducanu finds a couple of points.

But a stunning drop shot wraps up the first hold of the contest.

    Bienvenue to the French Open.

Today feels like a proper Roland Garros day one after a rather slow Sunday.

Scores of fans queued along Boulevard d’Auteuil before the gates opened at 10am local time, with many dashing to their court of choice for a prime spot.

The avenue leading up to Court Suzanne Lenglen is thronging. And the clay wall outside Court Philippe Chatrier is packed, as always, with selfie hunters.

The stands inside court eight and the walkways around it are already packed. There's plenty of interest in this first round contest - and so far the players are demonstrating why.

Emma Raducanu yields on serve and we're back level after consecutive breaks of serve.

It is extremely unlucky to have had a double-fault called off a foot fault in an opening game.

I thought Wang Xinyu took that in really good spirits, to be honest with you. I'm not quite sure I would have taken it like that!

That was a strange moment in the second point of the match.

Wang had no idea what she had been penalised for.

She was completely perplexed, then laughed before shrugging her shoulders towards Raducanu.

Raducanu did not react. Game face activated.

    Raducanu 0-0 Wang*

Wang Xinyu does well to brush off the shock of being called for that foot fault to swing the game in her favour as she rallies to 40-30, but Emma Raducanu is able to reach deuce.

Both players have made a solid start and some clean ball striking from Raducanu as she darts around the court denies Wang a second game point.
