Dan Evans will be hoping for a few more Davis Cup years to come. As of today, he is second on the all-time list of GB Davis Cup appearances.

“It’s not something I knew much about before this week,” he told BBC Sport.

“I just love coming to represent my country in any way, really. There’s been plenty of ties where I’ve not played and sat on the bench - it’s just as good near as to playing.”

Well played once again. Tomas Martin Etcheverry is handling the pressure and this noisy atmosphere very impressively. Still neither player can make a breakthrough in set two.

A deft touch from Tomas Martin Etcheverry delicately floats a big Dan Evans volley back over the net, but the Argentine double faults on the next point. 30-30.

The serve comes up clutch again, though, as Etcheverry levels the set. On we go...

Etcheverry continuing to be aggressive and looking to get to the net. We've still not had a break point in this second set.

Maybe that outburst of anger was just what Dan Evans needed.

He rushes through a love hold and sprints back to his chair with a raised fist. That's more like it.

A quick change of racquets and he's ready to go again.

A few shocked exclamations as Evans threatens to send his frame to the racquet cemetery.

The British talisman is a frustrated figure out there at the moment.

Opportunities are rare. As are mistakes from his opponent.

And Evans misses on the angle. Etcheverry again taking the sting out of proceedings, as he's done so effectively in this match today.

Yikes. Dan Evans is not happy. The Briton shows his frustrations by angrily whacking his racquet off the court.

Once isn't enough and he has a few more shots at the floor before Tomas Martin Etcheverry sees the hold through.

I thought this was supposed to be a home net! I think Etcheverry's bought it a steak and a glass of Malbec at some point.

The net cord works in Tomas Martin Etcheverry's favour once again, but Dan Evans manages to get there and keep himself in the game.

A rare unforced error from the Argentine brings us to deuce. A half chance for Evans?

He's going to leave it all out there Dan Evans, that's for sure. Again Etcheverry able to work a situation where he could approach to the backhand.

That's a beautiful little dink down low and this is probably Evans' favourite pass on the backhand, down the line.

He struck that with real conviction and we may well see a few more of those. He's a fighter, that's for sure.

Brilliant. [Evans] is turning it on and he's staying in contention.

Another moment of inspiration from Dan Evans to clinch the hold of serve and a 3-2 lead.

An overhead at the net hands Dan Evans the advantage and he makes the most of it, squeezing in a winner down the line as Tomas Martin Etcheverry waited at the net.

A fist pump and a few jumps on the spot show he's pleased with that.

Spider-man reflexes there from Dan Evans, who has his back turned from play but he gets his racquet up quick enough to stop Tomas Martin Etcheverry from slamming down a winner.

The Briton is brought to deuce on his own serve, though, after firing long.
