    Willenhall Lane is closed at the Quorn Way junction because of the police operation to try to persuade a man to come down from a roof.

    Traffic is also being diverted away from Quorn Way at William McKee Close and buses are being diverted.

    Tiles thrown by a man on a roof in Coventry overnight have caused minor injuries to two officers, say police.

    The 23-year-old also made threats to stab officers who were trying to detain him yesterday, before he climbed on the roof of the house holding a knife.

    Members of the public are not in any "immediate danger", say police, but they're asking nearby residents to stay indoors "for their own safety".

    Specially trained negotiators at the scene have been unable to talk the man down.

    Police negotiators have spent the night talking to a man on the roof of a house in the Willenhall area of Coventry, who's refusing to come down.

    He's been there since officers planned to make an arrest at William McKee Close at about 13:00 yesterday.

    Willenhall Lane, in Coventry, remains closed at the Quorn Way junction.

    An 81-year-old woman was the victim of a distraction burglary in Grove Road, Ansty,, external last week, say police. 

    They've released an image of a man they'd like to speak to after they believe the woman was followed home from a supermarket then had her bank card stolen.

    A police cordon is in place in Willenhall, Coventry, where a man has climbed onto a roof.

    The man's been on the roof since around 13:00 when officers visited the property to make a pre-planned arrest.

    A council resilience team is also present, in case properties need evacuating.

    Five people have been arrested after an incident in Rugby town centre today. 

    Police were called to reports of trespass at a property on Little Church Street and arrested four men and one boy on suspicion of theft and criminal damage.

    Officers also seized a vehicle and caravan for tax offences.

    The elderly and disabled population of sex offenders prison Rye Hill is continuing to put pressure on the healthcare system, says an annual report, external.

    The prison, near Rugby, was remodelled in April 2014 and now 40% of inmates are over-50s and 33% registered disabled.   

    The report highlights bed watches and end of life care have put "pressure on the staffing of the prison as a whole", and there is a shortage of full time carers for the disabled.

    The report also reveals that bowls and armchair exercises have been introduced as use of the gym has decreased.

    The aerial photo of Radford Road recreation ground, showing traces of an old air raid shelter, was taken by Historic England from a light aircraft.

    The remains of the communal shelter, close to the site where the Daimler motor works once stood, serves as a "poignant reminder", it says, of the aerial bombardment Coventry endured during World War Two

    An area around William McKee Close, in Binley, has been cordoned off by police after a man climbed on to the roof of a property.

    They say officers went to make a pre-planned arrest at the address at 13:00 and specialist negotiators are at the scene to try to safely resolve the situation.
