    There is heavy traffic on the M42 southbound at J9 of the M6 Toll Curdworth in the roadworks area with delays back to J10 for Tamworth, drivers are warned.

    Other than that, it's one of those rare days when there appear to be few problems on the roads around Birmingham and the Black Country.

    The BBC has learned that Network Rail has contacted the makers of Pokemon Go, about players' safety close to stations and railway lines and Birmingham is a hotspot for gamers.

    Police were called to reports of an assault in an ambulance on Sand Bam Lane, Stratford, this morning. 

    They say two members of ambulance staff were assaulted. 

    A police statement says a 48 year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in police custody.

  9. Councillor to be removed from committeespublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 27 July 2016

    A councillor is to be removed from the committees he sits on following concerns over remarks he made on social media. 

    Councillor Glenn Williams resigned from the Conservative party after comments in which he said he didn't believe in multiculturalism and that politician Enoch Powell was a "personal hero". 

    He's now an independent councillor for the Bablake ward.

    An extraordinary meeting of the full council is to take place next Wednesday at which Mr Williams will be asked to resign his seat. 

    He's also going to be removed from the planning and health and scrutiny committees.   

    Mr Williams has so far not responded to any calls for a comment about the meeting but earlier said he intended to remain a councillor for Bablake until the next election in 2020.

  14. Rare Jaguar to be auctionedpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 27 July 2016

    A 1961 Jaguar MK X owned by Sir William Lyons, external, the founder of Jaguar cars, is to be sold at auction. 

    The car, which was made for Lyons and finished to his specifications, has been restored by Jaguar specialists.

    It will be auctioned with a sale estimate of between £75,000 and £100,000.

  17. Warning that Pokemon Go putting people at riskpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 27 July 2016

    People enjoying the Pokemon Go craze are being urged not to put themselves at risk near railway lines.

    Network Rail says people using the game are going too close to the tracks. 

    The warning comes as figures show the number of trespassing incidents on the railways in the West Midlands has gone up by 13 percent in the last year.

    Let's face it, pre-season friendlies are not always the most memorable occasions, but when was the last time you saw a set of twins line up...against another set of twins?

    Last night's campaign warm-up at Carrow Road featured exactly that as Jacob and Josh Murphy of Norwich City shared the pitch with Coventry City's Dion and Devon Kelly-Evans.

    The Canary boys took the spoils with Josh scoring in Norwich's 3-0 win.
