    Coventry City defender Jordan Turnbull is to join Partick Thistle on a season-long loan, the club said.

    The 23 year old will join the Scottish Premiership side after agreeing terms with the club.

    Turnbull joined the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee last summer.

    Spit and bite guards will be issued to 4,500 West Midlands Police officers over the next three months.

    Campaign groups say the hoods - to be worn by suspected offenders - are degrading.

    The force said that in 2016, 231 officers in the region were spat on, leaving them at risk of diseases such as HIV, hepatitis and tuberculosis.

    Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said: “The introduction of spit guards has been a difficult, but necessary decision to protect our officers.

    “The police protect the public, it is therefore important we protect our officers."

    None of the 61 new MPs who secured their seats at the general election on 8 June are allowed to employ a family member.

    Campaigners say there needs to be a clear end date for the practice for all MPs.

    New boy Adam Hose scored 76 - including five sixes - as the Bears beat Lancashire in the T20 Blast.

    Ian Bell's side chased down 176 to win by five wickets - leaving them level on points at the top of the group with five matches to play.

    The victory takes the Bears level on points with Yorkshire at the top of the North Group, where they are joined by Derbyshire, who beat Leicestershire by seven wickets in a low-scoring game.

    A man armed with a large blade entered the rear of the One Stop on Chase Meadow Estate at about 06:15 on Saturday during a delivery.

    The delivery driver was threatened along with a member of staff before the assailant made off with the cash.

    Three people had to be cut free after a crash involving two vehicles on Napton Road, Stockton, yesterday.

    It happened at about 12:15.

    An 18-year-old driver suffered multiple fractures and a couple, thought to be in their 60s, suffered minor injuries.

    The Sky Blues beat Nuneaton Town 2-1 in their final warm-up match before the new season starts this weekend.

    Stuart Beavon and Jodi Jones scored the goals at the mini tournament at Liberty Way.

    Manager Mark Robins welcomed the result but said "what really matters" is the team's performance in the League.

    The shop worker at Warwick Lighting in Smith Street was forced to open the till by a man wielding a hand gun at about 15:20 on Friday.

    The offender made off with cash and the woman sustained minor injuries.

    Five men were jailed in connection with the death of Jesse Richards, in Cleve Prior, and were collectively sentenced to more than 50 years in prison.

    Jesse, who was originally from Gloucester, was killed in an attack over a drugs debt.

    His body is thought to have been taken by his attackers to Warwickshire where it has remained hidden.

    The number of dedicated traffic police officers has fallen by nearly a third over 10 years, an investigation by the Press Association has revealed.

    The West Midlands had the most cuts outside of London, with numbers falling by 52% from 384 in 2007 to 186 today.

    Experts have questioned how new laws, such as the ban on using mobiles while driving, can be enforced with 30% fewer officers dedicated to policing roads.
