The Bears' relegation should be confirmed today after they were beaten by an innings and 56 runs against Essex yesterday.

Giles told the BBC: "It's going to take some hard work and we need guys who are truly on board for that hard work because if anyone thinks it's just going to be easy jumping back up from Division Two, they've got another thing coming."

He is hoping former captain Ian Bell [pictured above] will stay at Edgbaston and put a difficult season behind him next year.

    Quote Message

Belly coming out of that England environment, [it] sometimes can be really tough to make that transition to county cricket. We know he's class, consistently putting [in] those performances for the Bears and for England and more than anything we just want to see him happy and he's happy when he's scoring runs and we're winning matches, so that's what we've got to try and get him back to."
