    Solihull-born boxer Kash Ali is due to fight Hari Miles on Saturday night.

  2. New £200,000 eye unit opens at hospitalpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    A new mobile £200,000 eye unit has begun treating patients at Hereford County Hospital.

    It will help monitor and treat potentially blinding retinal diseases, including those that are age-related or caused by diabetes.  

    The funding has come from a trust set up in memory of the late Geoffrey Lewis of Southend Farm, Mathon.

  4. Mother hails 'miracle' recovery from comapublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    The mother of a Herefordshire woman who has made a remarkable recovery after being left in a coma and on life support following a car crash says it's nice to be able to see her daughter smile again.

    Doctors have said the fact that 22-year-old Sam Hemming, from Credenhill, was so fit may have helped her survive and recover from her injuries.

    Carol Hemming says the part of her daughter's brain that looked after speech and walking died after the crash, but controlling those functions was taken over by another part of her brain, leading to a recovery that has shocked doctors.

  7. Railway line at Bromsgrove to close for 12 dayspublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    The line between the newly opened Bromsgrove station at Birmingham is to close for 12 days to allow it to be upgraded, Network Rail has announced.

    The closure will start on 26 October.

    Network Rail says the £100m project will see the line electrified and the signals upgraded.

    Buses will replace trains while the line is closed.

    The family of a seriously ill Redditch man have criticised the safety of the Worcestershire Royal Hospital's A&E department, since the transfer of some services from the Alexandra in Redditch. 

    Michael, from Churchill (who did not want to give his surname to protect his family), says his brother-in-law was left in a corridor for 21 hours, after being admitted following a seizure, and was refused help going to the toilet.

    A woman has been sexually assaulted while travelling on a bus, external from Winyates to Redditch.

    West Mercia Police say the assault happened just after 17:00 on Tuesday 27 September.

    A man walked from the back of the bus and sat next to a woman and touched her inappropriately several times before getting off the bus, a spokesman said.

    A Herefordshire woman who was left in a coma and on life support after a car crash says she can't remember anything about the accident.

    Sam Hemming, who's 22 and from Credenhill, was left with brain injuries - doctors have described her recovery as "a miracle".

    The law graduate is now hoping to begin training as a solicitor in September next year.

    I've been to meet seven-year-old Aouran Galbraith from Hereford, who is urging people to start fist pumping to help him to raise awareness of his kidney disease.

    He has PKD - Polycystic Kidney Disease - which can make kidneys swell to up to four times their normal size and become up to 100 times heavier.
