    If you're out in Hull's Old Town this evening you might be joined by members of a church choir.

    People from Holy Trinity Church are doing a special pub crawl spreading their Christmas message.

    Community Minister Daniel Broom has helped put it together and says the reaction when they've done it before has been great.

  5. Card designs raising cash for care homespublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2016

    Christmas Cards designed by residents of care homes around East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire are raising money for specialist activities. 

    Hull based Hica Group ran a competition for local care homes to design cards and they received more than 150 entries.

    Four were chosen and now those designs are on sale in care homes across our region.

    Fears about the future of a care home in Hull have come to a head.

    The council will discuss whether to shut Nicholson House which looks after people with dementia at a meeting in January.

    A man living in Hull has been jailed for 11 years at Grimsby Crown Court after stabbing his wife of over 20 years 11 times in a jealous rage.

    Ion Tontu, aged, 47, attacked his 39-year-old wife on Grafton Street in July after he accused her of having an affair.

    He was charged with attempted murder and pleaded guilty on 6 September.

    After Tontu was jailed prosecutor Jeremy Evans said the victim was lucky to escape with her life.

    Senior councillors have voted to close the ice rink in Grimsby claiming it is too expensive to run.

    A protest by members of Grimsby's ice hockey club failed to bring a change of mind to the North East Lincolnshire Council's cabinet who voted unanimously to close the venue.

    This is the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on Buttfield Road in Howden.

    Interesting fact: It was designed by JA Hansom, the inventor of the Hansom Cab.

    It has also been given £14,000.

    We're being reminded to keep our homes secure following an increase in burglaries in the Avenues area of Hull.

    Police say there have been 35 this month, external alone with many committed by people getting in through open doors or windows.

    Extra patrols are being put on in the area.

    Lawyers have vowed to fight on with a long-running, multimillion-pound compensation claim over alleged sex abuse in a Catholic children's home despite losing three out of four first "test" cases. 

    A total of 249 men have lodged claims against the Diocese of Middlesbrough and the De La Salle Institute which ran the St William's children's home in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire.
