    Three victims of abuse at the former St Williams school near Market Weighton have lost their cases for compensation.

    However, one man has won his case and has been awarded £14,000.

    A decision on another case will be made next month.

    In total 249 men are suing the Catholic Church. 

    The people who had their compensation claims dismissed are considering an appeal.

    Be careful what you buy because £6,500 worth of fake goods have been found at a house in Grimsby.

    Trading Standards officers say the clothing, handbags, footwear and electrical goods were on sale on a Facebook page.

    From today you can surf the net, download maps, stream music on the move in Hull.

    Free Wi-Fi is now available in the city centre and the council is planning to roll this out to other areas throughout 2017.

    All users will be required to register and create an account to access the free service.

    It is due to operate for 10 years.

    The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is considering taking action to get around 100 empty homes back into use. 

    There are around 1,700 homes in the area that have been empty for six months or more.

    The council says the action would include talking to the owners and encouraging them to refurbish their properties. 

    In a few cases the council might buy the properties and sell them on.

    Campaigners have been successful in their fight to keep Hull College Nursery in the city centre open.

    The college initially wanted to close the childcare centre claiming it wasn't financially viable. 

    However, it has now accepted a business plan which will allow it to open during term times.

    The Hull College group says it will work closely with staff to ensure the nursery is now viable on a long-term basis. 

    A review of the service will take place in July 2018.

    A High Court judgement is expected today to determine whether victims of sexual abuse at St William's children's home will get compensation.

    Five men have sued the Catholic Church over historic abuse at the home.

    The former principal James Carragher and former chaplain Anthony McCallen have both been jailed for abusing boys there.

    If the claims are successful then 200 other men could be in line for significant payouts.
