    PC Noble and PD Evo came second place in the National Police Dog Trials.

    The pair were assessed on different skills, over the course of three days, including agility, obedience and tracking.

    PC Noble and PD Evo (pictured) got the highest combined score in the tracking and searching exercises.

    Hull City are expected to officially confirm the departure of Head Coach Marco Silva today.

    He's understood to have told the club's owners of his decision to leave at a hotel last night in North Ferriby (pictured).

    A campaign to re-open the Beverley to York railway has suffered a setback.

    The Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has told campaigners it doesn't have the money to fund a feasibility study into re-opening the line.

    The rail minister had advised members of the Minsters Rail Campaign to approach the LEP for funding.

    The LEP says it will investigate whether any alternative sources of funding are available.

    Yorkshire's cricket team is due to return to Hull later today for the first time in 27 years.

    Hymers College is hosting a warm-up match before the start of the one-day T-20 competition.

    There'll be no appearance from players such as Joe Root, though, who has England commitments.

    The last time Yorkshire cricket came to Hull was in 1990.

    The number of people drowning off the Yorkshire coast has risen.

    Figures released this morning by the lifeboat charity the RNLI show 160 died on the UK coast last year.

    Eleven of these deaths were along the Yorkshire coast, an increase of seven from the previous year.

  9. Yorkshire Belle celebrates 70th birthdaypublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

    The 70th birthday of the Bridlington pleasure boat the Yorkshire Belle will be marked today with two special sailings.

    The current Yorkshire Belle went into service in May 1947.

    There will be a cruise this afternoon for regular passengers, followed this evening by a sailing for VIPs including tourism and council officials.

  10. Manchester attack: National minute's silence to be heldpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

    People across the Yorkshire and the Humber region are being invited to take part in a national minute's silence at 11:00 in memory of the victims of the Manchester terror attack on Monday.

    Twenty-two people were killed and 64 injured after a suicide bomber detonated a device at Manchester Arena.

    Among the victims were Wendy Fawell, 50, from Otley, Kelly Brewster, 32, from Sheffield, Marcin and Angelika Klis, from York, and Sorrell Leczkowski, from Leeds.

    Manchester's council has invited people "to pay your respects to those we lost".

  11. Manchester attack: Police apply for additional support for Big Weekendpublished at 10:26 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

    Humberside Police have applied for additional support under Operation Temperer to police the Big Weekend event this Saturday and Sunday, in light of the Manchester attack earlier this week.

    Police think the help is unlikely to be from the military, but will come in the form of additional armed police officers.

    England's preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy got off to the perfect start after an 72-run victory over South Africa at Headingley.

    Prior to the match, both sides and fans at the Yorkshire ground observed a minute's silence in memory of the victims of Monday's Manchester attacks.

    England captain, Eoin Morgan top-scored for the hosts with 107 and thought his side performed well:

    The second of the three match series takes place in Southampton on Saturday, before the series concludes at Lords on Bank Holiday Monday.

  15. Manchester attack: Two rounds of security at Big Weekendpublished at 08:33 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

    Organisers of Radio 1's Big Weekend say more information will be released later today about extra security measures which will be put in place at the event at Burton Constable.

    Armed police will be on site and everyone attending will have to go through two rounds of searches.

    There'll be a new exhibition at the Maritime Museum from Saturday which has been curated, collated and captioned by comedian, Bill Bailey and Hull’s primary school pupils.
