    Eye tracking technology is being used in East Yorkshire to help improve people's driving.

    The county's Road Safety Team is working with university experts to research how age, gender and driving experience affects behaviour behind the wheel and they're looking for volunteers.

  2. Internationally exhibiting artist comes to Hull's Ferens Art Gallerypublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

    Internationally exhibiting Dutch artist Philip Akkerman will visit Ferens Art Gallery on Thursday 1 June to give a masterclass on painting and a lecture on Dutch painting.

    Akkerman, who has works on display at the Ferens Art gallery, paints almost exclusively self-portraits in his own distinctive style.

  4. Pregnant woman missing from Scunthorpepublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

    Thirty-year-old Nicole Rae from Scunthorpe is in the latter stages of pregnancy and hasn't seen since last night.

    She went to visit a friend in the Church Street area of Scunthorpe and left around 20:00 to visit a shop but she didn't return and hasn't been in touch.

    Humberside Police are appealing for any information about where she is.

    A set of plaques has been unveiled in Hull today to remember six of the city's most revered rugby league players.

    Clive Sullivan, Roger Millward, Peter Flanagan, Colin Hutton, William Taylor and Billy Batten have been remembered as part of the City Council's Centenary Plaque scheme.

    One hundred local icons from across society are being recognised as part of the project.

  8. Action taken over derelict Hull Lord Line buildingpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

    Action is being taken to force the owners of a derelict building to make it safe amid police fears trespassers could be killed.

    Hull City Council and Humberside Police wrote to the developers of the Lord Line building claiming poor security was putting lives at risk.

    The council said it was now issuing a legal enforcement notice against owners Manor Property Group.

    The firm said it was in talks with the authority.

    I've just spotted armed police outside St Stephen's shopping centre in Hull city centre.

  15. Manchester attack: Radio 1 Big Weekend security stepped uppublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

    Security at Radio 1's Big Weekend at Burton Constable is being stepped up in the wake of the terror attack on Manchester Arena.

    Twenty-two people were killed and 59 injured when a man set off a bomb in the foyer at the end of a concert by Ariana Grande, on Monday.

    Humberside Police said they were bringing in extra armed officers and sniffer dogs trained to find explosives in response.

    BBC Radio 1 said its focus was safety and it was working with police ahead of the festival.

    A conference being held in Cottingham today will look at how to tackle the issue of modern day slavery.

    It's being held by the Humber Modern Day Slavery Partnership.

    A slavery survivor will speak as well as the police.

    A Facebook group has been set up to encourage people in Hull to gather in Queen Victoria Square today in solidarity with Manchester.

    It's been organised by a member of the public and people are being asked to attend at 19:00 today.

    A strike by guards working for Northern Rail has been called off because of the attack in Manchester which killed 22 people and injured 59.

    The RMT has suspended the 24 hour walkout on Tuesday 30 May on Northern services.

    The strike had been called as part of a row over the role of guards on new trains.

    Hull-based safety company Arco is recruiting 30 new staff to join its digital team.

    Based at the @TheDock development in the city's Fruit Market, the new office will house more than 50 staff and 20 consultants.
