    Postcards have been released that will hopefully raise the profile about Hull's headscarf revolutionaries:

    The headscarf revolutionaries were a group of women, led by Lillian Bilocca, dedicated to fighting for decent health and safety in the city’s fishing industry.

    The postcards cost £4 each and the money raised will goes to Hull Bullnose Heritage Group, external.

    North East Lincolnshire is one of 83 areas across the country, external to receive a share of £30m in government funding to assist rough sleepers and help support them into accommodation.

    £228,270 will be used to support Grimsby-based charity, Harbour Place, to provide a permanent night shelter at new premises in Hope Street.

    The money will also be used to increase community outreach, resettlement support and mental health assistance for rough sleepers.

    The new services will be in place by late autumn this year.

    A motorcyclist has been injured after a car and a motorbike collided on Ozone Way in Howden.

    It happened at 08:15.

    The motorcyclist has been taken to Hull Royal infirmary and an investigation into the collision is under way.

    A sculpture by the world famous artist Ron Muek has been unveiled at Hull Ferens Art gallery.

    It was specially made for the gallery in 2017 and will become part of its permanent collection.

    It's one of few pieces by the sculptor to be acquired by a museum in the UK.

    Some people who live in part of north Hull, where a charity wants to build a village for veterans, fear the plans pose a major flood risk.

    Hull 4 Heroes is proposing a multi-million pound site in the Derringham ward, which would include homes and rehabilitation and training facilities.

    It says it's working with engineers to address fears about flooding.

    There's been a big drop in unemployment in Yorkshire.

    Latest figures show the number of people out of work in the region fell by 16,000 between February and April to a 120,000.

    Nationally, unemployment fell by 38,000 to 1.4 million.

    People who worked alongside well-known Hull chip shop owner Bob Carver have been paying tribute to him ahead of his funeral later.

    Mr Carver died last month while on holiday abroad.

    The service will be led by his friend, Reverend Matt Woodcock.

    Karim Kahn, who runs a fruit and veg stall in Hull's indoor market, says Mr Carver was a city institution:

    "He was always there at the fish and chip shop. If he wasn't there, he was wandering around the indoor market just chit-chatting away. He very rarely smiled, but that was Bob," he says.

  8. Compensation offered to Northern rail passengerspublished at 09:30 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

    Passengers affected by delays and cancellations on Northern rail services will be offered cash compensation of up to a month's travel.

    An inquiry has been ordered by the government into what's been described as "unacceptable disruption" following the introduction of new timetables three weeks ago.

    Northern has cancelled 165 daily train services until the end of July.

    There are concerns about the future of the schools music service in Hull, which is used by thousands of children every year.

    The service currently works with schools across the city, but now an academy trust has decided to withdraw its support and set up its own service.

    A petition calling for the decision to be reversed has been signed by more than 3,000 people.

    Plans have been submitted to build 25 new apartments in Scunthorpe to help people with dementia lead independent lives according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, external.

    The multi-million pound development is being built at The Lilacs site on Warwick Road by Ongo homes and North Lincolnshire Council.

    Homes England have also contributed £1m towards the housing scheme.

    Ongo has also submitted and application for 22 affordable homes on land off West Street near the town centre.

    These two women want you to share your stories about the Humber Bridge with them.

    Lis Poulsom and Charlotte Bowen are from The Culture House, an arts-based social enterprise in Grimsby.

    They want to hear personal accounts from construction workers and engineers who worked on the bridge, as well as people who live by it, those who grew up around the structure and those who regularly use it.

    It's for the Hidden Histories of the Humber Bridge Project, external. An exhibition of the stories uncovered will tour Hull, East Riding, North and North East Lincolnshire next year.

    A series of public events, starting on Saturday at the Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby, are being held to collect the information.

    Yorkshire wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd has announced he will be retiring from cricket at the end of this season.

    Hodd, 34, a four-time Specsavers County Championship winner will call time on a near 17-year career which has included 113 First-Class matches and counting.

    The stalwart said: “I thought I’d got over the emotional bit when I made it final to myself a couple of weeks back, but telling the boys was hard and I’ll miss all of them.

    “Because it’s all I’ve ever really known, I think there will be a long, long line of things I will miss, but first and foremost the boys will be the ones I miss."

    Police are investigating the assault and robbery of a 35-year-old man in Hull, external yesterday.

    It happened on John Street at around 17:20 as the victim was walking home.

    Another man approached and assaulted him before stealing cash and a bag of beer.

    The victim suffered serious bruising to his face.
