    A power cut is affecting around 180 properties in Bridlington this afternoon.

    Northen Powergrid says it had to switch off the power for safety purposes while engineers work on the cables which serve the area.

    It is hoped all power will be resorted over the next couple of hours.

    Sobriety tags will be used across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to reduce alcohol-related crime.

    The tag, which can tell when someone has had a drink, has been trialed in Grimsby and Boston on offenders who commit crimes when drunk, because of the high levels of alcohol-related violence in those areas.

    It is estimated that alcohol plays a part in 25% of all offences reported and up to 40% of domestic abuse offences in those areas.

    Seventy offenders were tagged as part of the pilot. Police and Crime Commissioners support the Humberside, Lincolnshire & North Yorkshire Community Rehabilitation Company , externalplans to roll out the scheme.

    Those involved say it's proved very successful.

    A pensioner was robbed in Grimsby, external over the weekend.

    The 81-year-old had an envelope containing his passport, birth certificate and sentimental items stolen from him on Rendel Street at about 13:30 on Saturday.

    The suspect is described as white, 6ft tall, with fair hair, and was wearing blue shorts, t-shirt and trainers.

    This is the Frailty Intervention Team (FIT) in Hull and they've been recognised as one of the best in the country.

    It is their job to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and it seems to be working.

    More than two-thirds of people aged over 80 were being admitted to hospital before Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust introduced FIT last year.

    Now this team of specialists in elderly medicine work alongside staff in the Emergency Department at Hull Royal Infirmary seven days a week to help 70% of patients seen go home the same day.

    The team will travel to London later this month after being named as a finalist in the 2018 Healthcare Transformation Awards for Innovation in the Care of Long Term Conditions.

    Officers are looking for three men in connection with two burglaries, external which happened on the same night at a pub in Cleethorpes.

    Both break-ins happened at Willy's pub on High Cliff Road between 04:30 and 06:00 on Monday 28 April.

    In the first instance two men allegedly got in by smashing a glass door.

    They broke a fruit machine open before stealing cash and leaving.

    Around an hour later another man got in through the smashed door and allegedly stole two bottles of spirits from behind the bar.

    Police are appealing for information.

    A group wanting to build a new pier at Withernsea has received encouragement from the council that runs the only surviving pier in Yorkshire.

    Managers of Saltburn Pier near Middlesbrough, where more than 500,000 people visit each year, says seaside piers can be a huge draw for tourists and are worth having.

    Carl Quartermain, the Cabinet member for tourism at Redcar and Cleveland Council, admits Saltburn almost got rid of its pier in the 1970s.

    The company has 350 stores around the UK, including ten in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

    The company has three stores in Hull, two in Scunthorpe, and has one each in Grimsby, Goole, Lincoln, Boston and Grantham.

    Talks with a potential buyer at the weekend failed to produce a deal to save the chain.

    Police want help to identify this man who is wanted, external in connection with the robbery of a 15-year-old girl.

    A man riding a bike stole the girl's mobile phone on Marton Road in Bridlinton on Wednesday 30 May.

    The girl was left shaken and upset but wasn't hurt.

    The suspect has been described as white, dirty looking, 5ft 9in, in his early to mid twenties, skinny and has black or brown hair.

    He’s also been described as having no teeth at the front of his mouth.

    A 3.9-magnitude earthquake centred in Grimsby has reportedly been felt up to 60 miles (100km) away.

    The British Geological Survey (BGS) said it happened at 23:14 on Saturday, with the epicentre in Grimsby at a depth of 11 miles.

    Glen Ford, a seismologist for the BGS, said: "It is of the size we would expect people to start reporting it to us."
