    The government has been told Rotherham Council has improved and no longer needs the three external commissioners who were drafted in following the child sex abuse scandal in the town, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, external.

    Minister are to now make a decision on whether to allow the council to take control of its own affairs again.

    Mary Ney, the lead commissioner, has written to the secretaries of state for local government and education following the latest in a series of 'health checks' to monitor the council's progress.

    Commissioners were called in during 2015 after a number of reports spotlighted serious failings in aspects of the council's work.

    Some functions have been returned to the direct control of the council recently following improvements.

    A report , externalpublished in 2014 estimated 1,400 children were abused in the South Yorkshire town between 1997 and 2013.

    Every second of England's quest for World Cup glory in 2018 will be screened live on the screen in Millennium Square, external.

    Here's the dates for the group games:

    • England v Tunisia Monday 18 June KO 19:00
    • England v Panama Sunday 24 June KO 13:00
    • England v Belgium Thursday 28 June KO 19:00

    If England qualify for the sudden death, knock-out stages these games are also to be shown.

    The gates for each England match will open about 90 minutes before kick-off.

    Admission is on a first-come first-served basis until the square is full.

    No tickets are needed.

    A strict no alcohol policy will be in effect during the screenings.
